Aston Bolero lands deserved group win in 2016 Bendigo Cup

finally broke through for his first victory at level when landing a deserved win in night's (425m).

A seven time group finalist heading into the feature, the son of and Aston Dream stepped well from box two, pushing up along the fence to make a line of three with Zoltina's Legacy (box three) and (box five) down the back.

Heading into the bend and the leading trio raced tightly, with Zoltina's Legacy and Pantera Nera tangling with each other and back through the field.

In the meantime, Shepparton Cup winner Gotta Get Back (box one) managed to drive his way underneath Aston Bolero who had to dig deep, kicking away from his opponent on the home turn.

Into the straight and Aston Bolero was high-balling out in front and, despite Gotta Get Back's best efforts, he could not reel in the leader, with the -trained chaser scoring by 1.86 lengths in 23.72.

(box seven), which struck trouble in the early stages, ran a big race to finish third, with Proven Kodiak (box four) running on for fourth spot.

Aston Bolero has now won 28 of his 46 career starts, including five of his past six, with his prize money earnings now sitting at $165,595.
