Bobby Boucheau Bounces Back In Vic National Distance Championship Heats

Bobby Boucheau made a devastating return to the track tonight, winning his heat of the Championship at Sandown Park tonight.

Making his first start since June 30, Bobby Boucheau jumped fairly before racing to the lead through the first turn. From there he was never headed, holding off a fast finishing Granduer by half a length in a slick 41.87 seconds.

As the highest ranked Association stayer, Bobby Boucheau will receive the ‘wildcard' berth in the Final by simply taking his place in next Thursday night's Victorian final.

Looking to claim her own spot in the $75,000 to the winner 1 national final is Shimaguni, winner of the night's opening heat in 41.97 seconds.

Shimaguni broke through for her maiden Group race victory at the Meadows last Saturday night, and despite a much improved run from Echelon, held on to win by 1.5 lengths.

The Victorian final of the 2011 Macro Meats will be run at Sandown Park on Thursday 11 August. The winner of the Victorian final (and Bobby Boucheau should he not win the final) will join the winners of each other state finals in the $75,000 to the winner final at on Thursday 25 August
