Frosty Jay Jay Wins The Healesville Cup & Breaks The Track Record

Queenslander Frosty Jay Jay (8) has won the Two 2014 and broken the in the process.

Trainer , who snared the quinella in the race, had told the Australian Racing Greyhound through the week that Frosty Jay Jay should get things his own way from the wide box and that the rest would be up to him. That is exactly how the race transpired and the 37kg white and fawn chaser duly obliged.

As expected, favourite Paw Licking (2) and Coco Benz (7) set the early pace. Frosty Jay Jay began as well as could be expected out wide and plotted an arrow-straight course from box eight to the finish line. By the half-way mark, Paw Licking was a clear leader with the imposing figure of Frosty Jay Jay looming large.

The son of and Slick Hannah (Lindale Blue – Montana Sky) wasted no time in overhauling his kennel-mate in the last one metres to score by three-quarters of a length in 18.80, lowering the former track record of 18.82 held by Classy Maldidni.

Zulu Zircon (5) ran a very strong race to finish in third place, just two lengths from the winner.

Frosty Jay Jay is owned by Queensland trainer and breeder and has now taken his career record to 17 wins from 43 starts with prize-money just shy of $100,000.
