Glen Gallon Draws Box 1 Favouritism For Group 1 Sky Racing Topgun

Queensland star has been installed a $3.50 favourite after drawing box one in the Group 1 Sky Racing – this year worth $150,000 to the winner for the first time in the race’s 19-year history.

Trained by (who took out the 2005 version of this race with Black Enforcer), Glen Gallon will push his prizemoney to over $450,000 if successful in Saturday’s Group 1 extravaganza. The son of U.S. sire and Incoherent sent an ominous warning to his rivals with a sizzling 29.66 trial at The Meadows last week. His record of three wins from five starts off the red box underlines his favouritism in Australia’s richest invitation-only event.

Reigning winner Zara Zulu has also fared well after the box draw, with the Ros Hume-trained star to exit box two on Saturday night. The daughter of and Zulu Zepha is blessed with enough early speed to take up a prominent position in the all-important run to the first turn.

and both go into this year’s event with a two-pronged attack, with Thompson aiming to win his third Topgun after successes with and Whisky Assassin.

New South Wales will be represented by the speedy Bye Bye Bucks – already a Group winner when exiting box eight in July.
