Miss Mini Mouse Winning At The Meadows In September
Favourite Hybrid Theory ($2.30) bungled the start from box 1 as Miss Mini Mouse ($19) showed good early pace to take an early lead. Three-time Group 1 winner Betty’s Angel ($9) avoided trouble at the first turn to scoot around the field from box 8 and set out in pursuit of her kennel-mate.
The pair made it a two dog affair down the back as the Paul Bartolo trained superstars cleared away from their rivals down the back straight.
Miss Mini Mouse maintained a sizeable lead on straightening for home, however Betty’s Angel showed she will be a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming Sky Channel Superdogs Series, charging down the middle of the track only to finish ¾ of a lengths shy of Miss Mini Mouse in 30.35.
In addition to the $9,000 in prizemoney (taking their combined prizemoney to over $580,000), owner Diane Bartolo won her choice of services to leading international sires Kiowa Sweet Trey, Digital and Flying Stanley, courtesy of World Class Sires.
The pair will now head towards Australia’s richest race for bitches, the $72,500 Group 1 Solo Sapphire Crown, which Betty’s Angel won in 2006.
The heats of the Solo Sapphire Crown will be run at Sandown Park on Thursday 30 October.
