Seabrook Lass To Kick Start Browns 2010 Campaign
Written By Geoff Knape, Ballarat Greyhound Racing Correspondent On Tuesday 5th January 2010
Lara trainer Darren Brown will be hoping for a strong performance from his chaser Seabrook Lass at Ballarat on Wednesday night.
At only twenty months of age, Seabrook Lass is one of the young guns which will be contesting heats of the Tony’s On High Catering Grade 5 over 550 metres.
Seabrook Lass has already notched up two wins from only seven race starts, and Brown describes her as a “chaser with plenty of natural ability and potential.”
Brown gave Seabrook Lass four runs over shorter distances, before building her up for longer distance races at The Meadows and Geelong, which she duly saluted in.
“Due to her age we haven’t pushed her too hard, but staying races seem to be her forte.” Brown said.
Seabrook Lass is by former local champion Vapour Whirl out of the dam No Thoughts, and has drawn Box 8 in heat three on the program.
“I am happy with the draw as she has a tendency to be slow out of the boxes.”
“If she can maintain a reasonable position in running she is a definite each way chance in the race.”
Hardest for Seabrook Lass to beat will be inside runners Iso Octane and Wisdom to Excel.
Iso Octane is from the Darren McDonald kennel, and has been racing in city class races of late.
He is generally quick out of the boxes, and will be looking for his seventh race victory when he jumps from Box 2.
The Bruno Panetta trained Wisdom to Excel has drawn outside Iso Octane in Box 3.
The son of Primo Uno has been a model of consistency, and has won at Bendigo over a similar race distance.
Favored runners in the other two heats are Republican in heat one, and Remo Rubik in heat two.
The final will be run next Wednesday night.
