Selleck Inquiry For Conduct Toward A GRV Steward At Sale

today conducted an inquiry into the alleged conduct of licensed Trainer – Mr. B. Selleck towards Steward Mr. C. Scott, following the running of Race 9 at the Sale Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 16th November 2008.

In the event in question Selleck’s greyhound, finished second last of the eight runners, beaten 31.25 lengths as an $18 chance.

Subsequent veterinary inspection revealed a right wrist injury, although ’s poor performance was far more attributable to the wayward , who checked on several occassions and finished 1.25 lengths behind , with the two of them 17.5 lengths from the sixth place finsher.

Both and were vetted on two seperate occassion and in both cases a right wrist injury was discovered on the subsequent veterinary inspection.

Both greyhounds were given a seven day stand down for the injury, but was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment, by reason of injury, and directed to perform a satisfactory trial prior to any future nomination.

No doubt Selleck’s conduct related entirely to his perception of events and his perception of the judgement and action.

At the inquiry held today, heard evidence from Mr. B. Selleck, Mr. C. Scott and Mr. R. Paul.

After hearing the evidence, reminded Mr. B. Selleck of his responsibilities as a registered Trainer and took no further action in relation to the matter.
