The Waterboy Gives Greenough Family The Spoils In Superstayers Final

The Angela Jackson-trained Bobby Boucheau ($5) showed why he is rated as one of Australia's most exciting stayers with a brilliant win in the final over 725 metres at on Saturday night.

The son of and Dallas Gypsy began well off box six, sitting just a few lengths off favourite and early pacesetter Pillow Torque ($2.40) and the well-fancied So Seductive ($2.90) with a lap to run.

With So Seductive moving in on Pillow Torque, Bobby Boucheau began a rousing run on the outside, striding to the front as they turned for home.

With superior endurance, Bobby Boucheau extended his lead before stopping the clock in 42.29 – the fastest run of the year over the half-mile journey at The Meadows.

So Seductive – trained by Jackson's father – finished four lengths away in second, while Allen Zander ($16) ran down Pillow Torque to finish third, a further two lengths away. Jackson thanked her parents (Jacqui and Kel Greenough) for helping prepare a 1 winner.

“I'd really like to thank my mum and dad for their help since this dog started racing. I really wouldn't be standing here accepting this trophy without their help. I'd also like to give credit to our dog ‘Bobby', who is a great chaser and he just keeps improving.”

The win was Bobby Boucheau's 11th from just 19 starts and his first at Group level. After Saturday night's victory, the black chaser's prizemoney level has reached $88,290.

Chairman also announced that next year's Group 1 Macro Meats Superstayers final will be worth $75,000 to the winner, while the 2012 Group 1 MTD will give winning a massive $175,000 payout.
