In any other year El Galo would be a “moral” to win the 2008 Victorian Greyhound Of The Year, but his Topgun positive swab which is still pending GRV Stewards Inquiry, and his connections outrageous display which sparked the Melbourne Cup Controversy may weigh heavy on the minds of the GRV power brokers.

Could they afford to put El Galo and his connections forward as Victoria's best?

It could well be a public relations disaster once all inquiries are finalised. However, if the light sentence handed down to Jason Thompson after the Controversy is any indication; it is quite well possible they could still prevail.
