Vincent Oozing Confidence Over Oodles Rock
Written By Kevin Pitstock Tuesday 21st October 2008
Neville Vincent has had many greyhounds through the Lal Lal kennel over the past 40 years, but he believes there has none better than Oodles Rocks who is engaged at Ballarat this Wednesday night.
Oodles Rocks will be looking for her seventh race victory in the first of three heats of the Neverfail Springwater Grade 5 to be run over 550 metres.
Oodles Rocks is by prolific sire Token Prince, out of the dam Schne Oodles.
Vincent is well aware of the dam line as he also trained Schne Oodles and her mother Oodles.
Both were very good bitches who were very competitive in city class races. Schne Oodles is also a former track record holder at the Warrnambool track.
Oodles Rocks showed how good she is when she qualified last week for the Group 2 Sir John Dillon Memorial at Sandown.
On that occasion she was quick out of the boxes only to obtain a check in running which ruined her chances in the race.
“She’s a very good bitch who just keeps on improving with each run.” Vincent said.
Ooodles Rocks will jump from Box 3.
“I’m not concerned about the draw as she has speed from the boxes. It’s also not a bad draw from the 550 metre start.” he said.
Hardest to beat will be Qayyim Bale and Zoe Zoe.
Qayyim Bale for Anakie trainer Andrea Dailly has drawn inside Oodles Rocks in Box 2.
Although his form of late does not look good on paper, he has had checks in running and is coming back from city class races.
Zoe Zoe for John Martinovic generally has speed from the boxes and won at the track and distance last month. Zoe Zoe will jump from a suitable Box 7 draw tonight.
In the second heat the equal pre post favorites are Uno Jacob and Sitting Bear.
Both have got exceptional form with Uno Jacob looking to make it five out of five when he jumps from Box 2, whilst Sitting Bear will try to make it three straight from Box 7.
In the last heat the favored runners are Splendid Return from Box 6, and Sky Ray from Box 8.
Splendid Return has only had seven race starts for three wins and four minor placing’s which shows she is a definite up and comer.
Sky Ray has five wins from his eight race starts, and should be suited by his outside box draw.
The final of the Neverfail Springwater Grade 5 will be run next Wednesday night the 29th October 2008.
