Your My Lady Loses Warragul Win
Londonderry greyhound trainer, Anthony Azzopardi has had his greyhound Your My Lady disqualified from her Warragul win on Tuesday 2nd September 2008 after being ruled ineligible to compete in the race.
Your May Lady had been competing successfully in New Zealand prior to her first run for nearly two months at Warragul in Race 10 on the 2nd September 2008.
On that night Your My Lady landed some good wagers starting second favourite on STab from her box 4 draw and leading all the way to beat the favourite Spellbound Siyan by 2.25 lengths in 24.26.
Your My Lady, despite being the winner of over $NZ42,000 and having had 43 starts for 20 wins and 15 placings prior to the Warragul engagement, was drawn to compete in a 5th Grade 424 metre event against greyhounds the calibre of Spellbound Siyan who was only having her third race start.
No other greyhound engaged in the race had won more than two races and the graded certainty did not let supporters down, leading easily to the first section and make every posts a winner to run the second quickest time for a 5th grade race recorded that night.
GRV Stewards subsequently convened an inquiry to investigate the eligibility of Your My Lady greyhound to compete in the Warragul race. That inquiry was heard this morning (Thursday 18th September 2008).
Stewards heard evidence from Your My Lady’s trainer Anthony Azzopardi by phone from his New South Wales base, and from GRV Member Services Manager Mr. Nick Richards and GRV Chief Grader Mr. Mark Kennedy.
After hearing the evidence, Stewards determined that the greyhound Your My Lady was ineligible for a Grade 5 Event at Warragul, due to the fact the New Zealand form of the greyhound was not obtained prior to the Event.
As a result Stewards disqualified Your My Lady from Event 10 at Warragul on the 2.9.08 and amended the placings as follows :
- 1st Spellbound Siyan
- 2nd Why Not Kate
- 3rd Hit Tune
- 4th Misses Choice
- 5th Jonathon
- 6th Private Tuttle
- 7th Little Miss Livv
- Disq. You’re my Lady
