2014 Galaxy Preview

Cannington is holding four heats of the 1 over metre trip. A number of Australia's best stayers made the trip to try their luck against WA's strongest chasers in hope of the Galaxy title and $80,000 to the winner.

Heat One:

Robert Britton's veteran stayer Gold Affair Two is set to start as $2.00 favourite from box seven. The fast beginner will prove hard to beat if she gets far enough in front of the field.

Victorian is coming off an impeccable performance at where she jumped only fairly and gave seven lengths to a leading Infinite Wish, before snatching the victory on the line. It's hard to pass up this chaser after watching her last start replay. Sweet It Is will jump from box eight at $2.50 for the win.

It looks a hard task for a WA stayer to take out this heat; all are paying double figures for the win.

Heat Two:

Ash Flash for trainer is currently backed into $1.70 favouritism pre-post. She has jumped from boxes five and six in her last two starts and won in best of the night times over the staying journey. She has continued to improve in her three starts at Cannington and this week should prove no different. Jumping from box six again, she will only need to stay out of trouble to win the race.

Victorian Cheetah Zorro recently won the Group 1 . This week she will jump from box eight, making her journey that little bit harder. Despite her box draw and lack of experience at Cannington Cheeta Zorro is paying $3.50 to win the heat.

Veteran campaigner Pedro's Finest is looking for his 41st win from 148 starts and is jumping from box one and paying $9.50. It's a tough ask for the veteran to come away with the win, but you wouldn't put it past him to sneak the victory.

Heat Three:

Dyna Willow earned $2.00 favouritism over Destini Fireball ($2.10) after defeating him by 0.02 lengths in their last encounter. Dyna Willow will jump from box six and if she crosses the field to the rails without too much interference she is in with a great chance.

The Emilio Rinaldo trained Destini Fireball is in the twilight of his illustrious career. There is no doubt he has the ability to take out this heat even though he is winless in his last 14 starts, despite coming close in a number of finishes. The Cannington track and box eight might work in his .

Last week the Linda Britton trained Reverberate ($7.50) won the Galaxy Prelude whilst warming up for the heats. At her best she has the talent to defeat this field with ease, the question is; will her best be Saturday night?

Heat Four:

The last heat of the Galaxy is set to be dominated by talented Victorian stayers according to punters. Born Ali, for trainer Robert Britton, is the favourite paying $2.80 and will jump from box two. She is making her debut on WA soil after coming off a fourth place in the at Wentworth Park last start. The little black bitch is a fast beginner and her inside box draw saves her time and reduces the amount of interference she will receive.

Angela Langton's stayer Infinite Wish is second favourite ($3.20) and will be jumping from box six, with a vacant box directly on her inside. She had her first start at Cannington last week for a win, which should give her an advantage above the rest of the field.

Maddison Dee is a class stayer and is paying $4.00 for the win in this strong field. The blue bitch is yet to race around Cannington, which could work against her.

All four winners and second placegetters will make it into the Group 1 Galaxy Final. Not only are they vying for their places in the final, but also the $10,000 they receive from winning the heat.
