On The Case Turns Up On The Job

As reporterd here last week; earlier this year WA police officer Matt Butcher lay unconscious in hospital fighting for his life after being king hit while on duty in the northern suburbs of Perth.

A callous act nearly ended the young police officers life, however Butcher fought hard and with his wife Katrina and his mates from the WA Police force right by his side, he has recovered.

He is still at Shenton Park rehabilitation centre receiving daily treatment.

Butcher lost the movement in one leg and one arm, however he is using his positive attitude in his aim to walk again.

Although Butcher will not return to work on the beat with the WA Police force he had a lot of people stand up for him when he was down.

Along with support in WA, an auction was conducted to assist the young Butcher family with the many changes they will have to endure in their future life.

An auction was organised and donated a greyhound pup by -Only Keeping and a private investigator named purchased the black bitch for $10,000.

The good gesture from Rompotis, who runs Australia Wide Investigations, also saw him then donate all his winnings from the bitch too the Butcher family.

Last Wednesday night at the well-named black bitch made a winning debut for Rompotis and Matt and and trainer .

The tiny bitch flew out of box seven and crossed the field before demolishing her rivals as she raced clear winning by seven lengths from Mock Up in 30.85.

The Maiden winner looks like she has a fair bit of ability and should give the Butchers a lot of fun as they try and get their lives back on track.

Butcher has along way to go but plans to one day be able to walk On The Case down to the local park once she retires from racing.
