Casino Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 1 – King Can To – 2:49pm NSW time

King Can To is perfectly boxed on the rail to take out this 484m race at Casino. The winner of 4 of 12 starts with 3 placings is a last start Casino winner in 23.33 over the 411m and is undefeated from box. Other wins have been at Tweed Heads with a best there of 23.47. The three dog Sebastian Vale is the likely leader but is stepping up to the 484m after three wins in a row over the 411m trip here, but King Can To will be right behind it in running and prove too strong.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 7 – Indigo Gem – 5:24pm Vic time

Owned and trained in the same connections as former sprinter/stayer star greyhound Mantra Lad, Indigo Gem just failed to win her heat of this final last week after early interference from the awkward box 4 draw. Looks very well placed in the final from box 7. Indigo Gem has raced 12 times for 4 wins and on each occasion has either led from the boxes are been close to the lead, but last week really tried hard in the run after being fifth early to go down by just a half length. Has the pace to lead from box 7 and has run 29.87 at Sandown on the bunny and that’ll be good enough to win this.

The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 3 – Lilley’s Flash – 5:27pm NSW time

Lilley’s Flash is owned and trained by Ian Betts and is the winner of just 1 race from 13 starts, but has run 6 placings. Went from this box last week in the heats and was a little unlucky not to have been able to kick up and hold the inside running. Had a little interference in the run and was only beaten 2.75 lengths by Why Worry Me. Was as far back as 6 or 7 lengths from the leader last week but should either lead or be closer in the run today. Will go around at good odds and should go very close.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 4 – Pulp – 7:18pm NSW Time

Pulp is a member of the flying Collision ~ Frosty Fruits litter and is having his first distance start tonight over the 720m. Has been working up to the distance runs at Richmond and Nowra over the middle distances at his past 3 starts resulting in a huge 14.75 length win in 35.25 at Richmond when he lead from the outset. The winner of 11 of 29 starts with 10 placings, he should lead this small field easily and only has to break 43 seconds to win this. Should be able to run that sort of time and will lead this comfortably.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Santino Marella – 4:37pm Qld time

Impossible to go past Santino Marella as the best bet today at Albion Park. The Stephen Rolph trained greyhound has won 21 of 78 starts with a further 25 placings and was at one time Queensland’s leading middle distance greyhound. In a race where few have even won on the track Santino Marella has had 32 starts at the track and distance for 7 wins and 9 placings. Proved he was still going well with a good 30.40 win here 2 starts back when able to round up the leaders and finish over them. Should get a good run in behind Co Star who looks the likely leader from box 3.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 1 – Peters Project – 9:48pm Vic time

The Adam Richardson trained Peter’s Project has turned around his form in recent starts and has won 2 of his last 4 races. Started off with a good 27.40 best of day win at Horsham over the 480m from box 2 and then finished second there in the final one week later. Headed to town and won at The Meadows coming from last early to win in 30.65. Followed that with an ordinary 6th at Sandown but drops massively in grade to this 550m heat. Has the aid of box 1 tonight which is his first box 1 draw in 32 starts. Has run some very fast times and will win this easily if able to lead but can also run over the top of whatever leads him.

Mandurah Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 2 – Paddy Lawlor – 7:42pm WA time

The Lexia Isaac trained Paddy Lawlor found the task too much last week in good field from an awkward draw but gets back to box 2 in this race and drops in class. Ex Victorian having his third start over the 490m journey and will be improved by the two attempts over the trip, having won at his first go in 27.92 from box 6. Prior to that was a good 405m winner from box 6 in 22.84, leading all the way. Had only moderate form in Victoria with wins at Shepparton in 26.01 and 25.70 from 4 starts. Since landing under the care of Lexia Isaac the son of Premier Fantasy has had 6 starts for 3 seconds and 2 wins. Looks the likely leader again.

Warragul Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 1 – New Play – 3:57pm Vic time

All maiden meeting so bet at your own peril. In race 10 a well bred youngster has box 1 and is making her race day debut. New Play is a March 2009 whelping by Knocka Norris out of the good producer Winderlich. Knocka Norris has been going great guns as a sire with plenty of fast young pups flying the flag for him including the very fast Noar In Knocka. Winderlich is a good producing dam from the Pringle/Hallinan damlines and has already produced very handy type such as Brindiwipla, Black Gate and Urana Shiraz.

Grafton Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Hanify’s Idol – 3:44pm NSW time

Race 6 at Grafton is an off and over 305m sprint and last week it took a track record to beat Hanify’s Idol, when Fire Hawk sped over the distance in 17.31 to take .07 seconds off the old mark. Colin Graham trained Hanify’s Idol was only 2.25 lengths away in second place in that race after being second all the way in the run from box 5. Moves to box 1 this week and there is no Fire Hawk to contend with. Has a good record of 7 wins from 12 starts with 5 placings and has the pace to hold the rail and hold them out.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – Apache Man – 5:24pm Vic time

The smart Apache Man looks well placed in this 430m 5th grade off box 1. Has won 7 of 12 starts thus far with 4 placings, with his only unplaced run coming in the Warragul Summer Sprint Final behind the smart Vee Eye Pee. Has won his past 2 in a row at Ballarat leading all the way in 25.39 and 25.41. Very exciting young chaser with excellent box speed who should lead this field easily and prove far too good.

Sandown Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 7 – Lektra Sharp – 8:52pm Vic time

Lektra Sharp was unlucky last week to run in to Mungo Man who was ideally boxed and just did enough to hold him out from crossing and leading. Mungo Man went on to win by 2.5 lengths in 29.66 and will probably start close to favourite in the Free For All race tonight here at Sandown. Reverse the boxes last week and you could easily reverse the decision. Tonight Lektra Sharp moves out one box to box 7 but doesn’t have to contend with the same kind of pace to his inside and can lead this field. Has won 3 of his 7 races from box 8 so can handle the draw and ran 29.81 getting beaten last week. A similar kind of run will win this tonight.

Maitland Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – November Tribute – 5:32pm NSW time

The Christine Oldfield trained November Tribute is flying at the moment, having won 3 of his last 4 starts here and at Bulli. Ran 26.74 beating Fast Torana at Bulli then missed the starts and never a hope at The Gardens behind Noar in Knocka. Won both his past two starts here at this track and distance leading practically all the way on both occasions from boxes 3 and 2 running 25.46 and 25.45. Going for the three-peat but should be untroubled with kennelmate November Hoodlum running cover for him from box 2.

Dapto Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 6 – Arctic Chill – 9:58pm NSW time

The Sid Swain trained Arctic Chill is going to go out good odds in this race and is ideally boxed out wide. The veteran of 19 starts has won 5 and been placed 8 times and at this track and distance has had 4 starts for 2 wins and a second. His best winning times are 22.75 Richmond, 30.59 Wentworth Park, 30.28 Lithgow and 30.25 here. Arctic Chill has the pace to get over from box 6 and steal this at good odds.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 7 – Outa Credit – 8:28pm Qld time

We couldn’t catch the speedy Outa Credit two weeks in a row, when beaten home twice by kennelmate Elite Blue Size and Franklin Style, but last week the Reg Kay trained greyhound stepped up to the 600m and very impressively won 4.75 lengths in 35.04. The winner of 17 of 40 starts and 14 placings has never been unplaced on this track and will only have improved with the run over 600m. Well boxed outwide to stay out of trouble and will be motoring home hard late.

Hobart Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 2 – Damek – 9:44pm Tas time

Extremely high class Tassie free for all here with Damek returning to Tasmania after unsuccessful mainland campaign and coming up against Mushy Peas, Regent Typhoon, and 2011 Launceston Cup winner Fisherman. Damek just didn’t fire on the mainland for Bobby Douglas running last and second at Shepparton 450m runs, but is a much better greyhound back in his home kennel under the Phillips’ care. Has had 13 starts here for 12 wins with his only failure coming in the 2010 Group 1 Hobart Thousand. Expect massive improvement back on home soil.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 6 – Bar Fridge – 9:11pm SA time

Bar Fridge did the job very well for us last week and was never in doubt when winning his third race in a row and running 30.22 from box. Has won 10 of 15 starts, most of them leading all the way and did win from boxes 6 and 7 here prior to last week’s win. Slightly up in class but should be able to muscle through to lead on the first corner and with a personal best of 29.93 on the track, will be very hard to beat. Flying at the moment and full of confidence, so can offset the draw.

Mandurah Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 8 – Deacon Brodie – 8:07pm WA time

Prepared to give Deacon Brodie another chance after finishing fourth here last week from box 2. Was a debut winner here at Mandurah from box 1 in 28.01 by 7 lengths back in January before missing the start and finishing 5th there again 9 days later. Had a 2 week break then drawn back in box 1, just missed the start and was galloped on before finishing third 2.5 lengths behind the winner, and then similar story last week from box 2. Prepared to forgive the last 2 starts and might be better suited out in clear running from box 8

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 3 – Gold Coast Gazza – 1:56pm SA time

Gold Coast Gazza is a young greyhound under the care of Victorian trainer Rob Britton, and made the final of the Sandown Vic Breeders Maiden two starts back, finishing last after suffering interference. Backed up at The Meadows and again disappointed finishing seventh. But first maiden win was very impressive at Sandown, when leading all the way in 30.17 on a day when the best was only 30.04. On that run, would bolt this in. Take on trust against here.

The Meadows Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 1 – Pedro Sanchez – 2:31pm Vic time

The Len Ketalaar trained Pedro Sanchez should get the gun run from box 1 in this 5th grade. Was tailed off at his first race start and was made to stewards trial before his second start, running second in a maiden here in 30.48 from this box. Last week from box 4 he led soon after the start and made every post a winner, running 30.42 winning by 8.25 lengths. Slow beginner on his outside should give just enough cover and this is no harder than last week.

Shepparton Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 7 – Gippy Flyer – 4:30pm Vic time

Gippy Flyer looks the testing material in this 390m race from the 7 box. Showed good early pace to lead here on 9th February from box 5 and win his maiden on debut running 8.69, 22.75. While the time is only moderate he is bound to be improved from the run and the move out to box 7 should give him room to move with a slow beginner boxed to his outside. Has some pace to his inside but should be able to prove to strong in the run to the line.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Kya Rose Hi – 5:03pm Qld time

The only race that is not a worthless 300m race on the program is race 8, the 5th grade over 520m and we’re going to stick with Kya Rose Hi who won well for us last week in this corresponding race. Again looks well placed here as the winner of 3 races from 10 starts with back to back wins coming here at Albion Park in 30.78 and 30.75. Slightly up in grade on last weeks run but is in very good form.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 6 – Lektra Express – 9:18pm Vic time

Going to stick with Lektra Express here, who was uncharacteristically run down here last start after leading a good field. The winner did run best of the night to beat her, but must something have been amiss as he is a much better greyhound than that. Lektra Express is in our opinion a potential superstar, who has already twice broken the Warragul 400m track record. Put him in your black book, this bloke is going to win some big races and should be able to lead this field and win tonight after the short 2 week let up.

Nowra Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Bustling Shiraz – 5:57pm NSW time

Bustling Shiraz gave no indication last week as to why he has only won 2 from 10 and run 6 seconds. From this same box in last week’s heats, flew away early running 4.44 and kept it going to win in the best of day 30.24 to be fastest qualifier. Prior to that had run second at Dapto after leading and getting run down in 30.37 from box 1. Should be able to cross and lead easily and again prove too good.

The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 5 – Number 9 – Box 8 – Bloss Sannette – 8:26pm NSW time

Prepared to give Bloss Sannette another chance here, getting in to the final as first reserve. Missed the start last week and got squeezed out early when running fifth behind Jezzadora beaten a fair way. That run was well below par and the Kevin Johnson trained greyhound has had 27 starts for 15 wins and 3 placings and since resuming from a 2 month spell had been unbeaten in 2 runs prior to last week. Has already won here in 34.94 when jumping from box 6 and the move to box 8 today is an advantage. Should go close at big odds.

Ipswich Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 5 – Made To Fly – 7:11pm Qld time

Semi final night of the Vince Curry Memorial and just as last week, our bet of the night at Ipswich is Made To Fly. The Sandra Hunt trained daughter of Mate To Size and Solid Skye hasn’t put a foot wrong in the series yet. Looked very impressive winning her qualifying heat in the best of the day 30.67 on debut from box 3, and last week won her quarter final by 4.5 lengths in 31.10. Proved her commitment last week when headed but didn’t give up and chased hard for the win. Should do the same again tonight.

Cannington Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 5 – Naomi Keeping – 8:37pm WA time

Naomi Keeping went down again here last week after leading early and getting run down by a better one. Again tonight will be the leader despite the awkward box 5 draw. has been running good times of 30.89, 30.66 and 30.71 getting beaten and was beaten in the best of the night last week. Hasn’t been further back than 4th at her 8 runs since arriving from NSW. Has the pace to lead this race and should repeat her effort here 3 starts ago when leading throughout in 30.89.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 11 – Box 8 – Talira – 3:02pm Vic time

Tier 3 no penalty meeting at Bendigo today and good bets are few and far between, but Talira in race 11 looks a viable bet. Has had just the 4 starts for one win but has won a Ballarat qualifying trial in 22.62. Followed that with a 4th in the maiden final and won here last week running 24.82 from box 1. Probably not badly boxed here on the outside and can lead. Looks to have more upside to her career than many of her opposition.

Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 1 – Box 2 – Dent – 4:07pm Vic time

Unlikely spot to find a best bet but Dent who is on the back up from a maiden final at Traralgon on Friday could be a good value bet. Ran on strongly on Friday to find third although clearly outclassed by the winner, but did improve again and could be better for the run. Has box 2 today and doesn’t look to have a lot of early pace around him so easily assume a commanding position in this race at good odds.

Bathurst Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 3 – Pacific Jewel – 5:17pm NSW time

Pacific Jewel has won her past three starts in a row at Richmond and here at Bathurst of the 618 and 717m distances. Surprisingly took a while for the penny to drop, after winning her maiden at her 7th start, she then went winless for the next 18 starts before winning three races in the space of a week. Backing up for her 4th run in 9 days but is in good form and no reason she won’t repeat her win her 2 starts back where she took up a forward position and proved too strong in 37.11.

Shepparton Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Arsonist – 9:26pm Vic time

Won’t be much of a price about this greyhound but doubt it could possibly lose from this draw either. The flying Arsonist is a Group 1 winner and multiple group finalist and winner of over$113,000 in prizemoney remarkably gets jammed in to a mixed 4/5th grade race tonight. Proved she is going as well as ever running 29.88 at The Meadows two starts back. Good box dog who should just lead easily from box 1 and bolt this in.

Bulli Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 2 – Rock Island Line – 7:34pm NSW time

Christine Oldfield looks to have another nice young greyhound in her kennel in Rock Island Line. Did the job for us as our top pick when cruising in by 3.25 lengths in 22.65 and the followed that up with a 22.42 win here last week. The son of Bit Chilli ran 22.62 in his performance trial and then won his debut race by 3.25 lengths in 22.74 from box 7, leading practically all the way. Still on the improve and unbeaten, this bloke has a bright future.

Gawler Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 4 – Fatal Impact – 8:48pm SA time

Fatal Impact has the pace to gap this field early and is dropping buckets in class on previous middle distance runs. The winner of just 4 of 35 starts, has run 11 placings and is an ultra consistent beginner having finished further back than 4th just once in her last 10 starts. Has had two middle distance runs previously finishing 4th on both occasions in harder grade at Angle Park. Very speedy beginner who will lead this race easily and get tired but should lead by enough to get home for the Race A Chaser Impact Syndicate.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 2 – Shazand – 8:05pm Qld time

Shazan too 13 races to win her maiden but has obviously benefited from maturity as he not only won his maiden heat here in 31.62 but from box 6 in the final never put a foot wrong winning in 30.79. Clearly on the improve this young Troy Sharpe trained greyhound can win again tonight from box. Has now had 14 career starts fro 2 wins and 7 placings with 5 starts over this track and distance for 2 wins.

Hobart Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 2 – Din’s Choice – 6:45pm Tas time

Din’s Choice is bred and owned by Karen Leek being by Hallucinate out of her handy brood bitch Din’s Portrait. The veteran of just 4 career starts, she has was third in a qualifying trial at Hobart before running second in the maiden final. The from box 2 cruised to an easy win in the good time of 26.05 at Devonport before finishing third over the 340m distance here and then 4th from box 1 at Launceston. Should appreciate the return to Hobart and boxed to race handy all the way.

On both occasions just got run down late after leading, but does look like she can steal more of a break here today.

A typical on pace greyhound, she hasn’t run a place if not able to find the lead, but despite the squeeze box she is surrounded by slow beginners and will get every opportunity to lead. Has run 29.87 at Sandown on the bunny and that’ll win this with ease.

The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 8 – Dunno – 4:18pm NSW time

Small but speedy field for this 400m dash and the Jason Mackay trained Dunno looks well boxed to take it out from box 8. This very fast customer has won 18 of 33 starts with 9 placings but has had 6 starts at The Gardens 400m trip for 4 wins and a 3rd. Last start was fifth over 400m at Richmond in the Cannonball final after winning his heat in a flying 23.07. Was cut out of the race then when trying to lead then and should get a good cart over from Macey boxed to her inside and assume control early.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 2 – Madame Reltub – 7:18pm NSW Time

Madame Reltub led easily from box 1 here last week running 5.49 early but was unlucky enough to run in to the high quality John and Minnie Finn trained Winsome Shiraz. There is nothing of that quality in this and with the scratching of Ity Bity Bamsy from box 1, Madame Reltub will have enough room to drive a truck through and take the lead early tonight. That was first start on this track last week and has plenty of wins ahead if she can begin like that every week. Will lead by a long way and get tired but will get home.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 8 – Sunro Clapio – 5:51pm Qld time

The well traveled Sunro Clapo bobs up here in the last at Albion Park and will give them all something to chase. Should get a good cart over to the first corner from Spritual Gift and the Dave Irwin trained greyhound has won 5 of his past 6 starts at Grafton, Lismore, Wentworth Park and Maitland. First start here but is yet to be unplaced from box 8 and based on her 30.55 Wentworth Park win and 25.47 Mailand win will have little trouble accounting for this lot. Won’t be a big price but should win easily.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 2 – Fantasy Phoenix – 9:48pm Vic time

Wouldn’t normally bet in these 390m events but Fantasy Phoenix is dropping a long way in grade and resumes from a 7 month break. Previously was the winner of 6 of 32 with 12 placings and had wins of 30.34 at The Meadows and 25.38 at Warrnambool to his name. Has won here over 450m in 25.63 and prior to spell was consistently leading city class races at Sandown and The Meadows and finishing in the placings. Has the pace to blow them away in this and will go out at very good odds.

Prior to that was a good 405m winner from box 6 in 22.84, leading all the way. Had only moderate form in Victoria with wins at Shepparton in 26.01 and 25.70 from 4 starts. Since landing under the care of Lexia Isaac the son of Premier Fantasy has had 5 starts for 3 seconds and 2 wins. Is not as well boxed as last week but very pacey early and should be able to lead and win again despite box 5.

The highlight of todays Greyhound Racing is the final of the Vic Breeders maiden at Sandown featuring Shimaguni who looks to be a bright young greyhound starting out her career. Warragul Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 3 – Aston James – 3:39pm Vic time

On another of these low grade tier 3 meetings and very hard to find a single consistent greyhound in any of the 12 races. But Aston James was bred to race in better company than Tier 3 meetings and has a fairly good record, having had 8 starts for 3 wins and 2 placings. He won his maiden race at Healeseville in 18.96 and 2 starts later picked up a Traralgon 298m win in 17.17. Has been out of the money at his past 2 starts but prior to that did win a Ballarat 390m in 22.49. That would be good enough to win this and should lead the 2 greyhounds to his inside.

Grafton Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 8 – Fire Hawk – 2:47pm NSW time

Race 3 at Grafton is an off and over 305m sprint and the Jan Finnernan trained Fire Hawkis as pacy as they come and ideally boxed outwide in box 8 in race that is chock full of talent and speed. Fire Hawk has won 7 of his 12 starts with 4 seconds and last start finished second to Bundanoon at Casino over 411m after leading early. Won the start prior to that at Casino beating Pretty Knocka. Some talented ones drawn against him here and we should get a decent price.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Amakler Girl – 6:09pm Vic time

Amakler Girl is perfectly boxed out in the pink in this race having won 7 of her 22 wins from box 8. She has a good record here at Bendigo having won 3 of 7 with 3 placings and has a personal best of 23.89. Has been running well without winning and last start finished 3rd at Warrnambool from box 3 when unable to lead. Won two races back to back in December and should return to form in this from a good draw.

Sandown Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 8 – Sand Burner – 8:09pm Vic time

Have to take a leap of faith here that the real Sand Burner turns up in this distance race. Now in the care of Jamie Ennis, Sand Burner passed a satisfactory trial on 6th February over the 515m, winning by a casual 12 lengths in the flying time of 29.63. That was his first run since December at Wentworth Park when he incurred the wrath of the stewards for not putting in any effort in the run. Freshened up in and in a new kennel we should expect a much better effort. Seriously fast greyhound as evidenced by his 30.17 Richmond 535m track record run, but can stay with wins at Wentworth Park in 42.54, Richmond in 42.71 and Albion Park in 42.05. If the right dog turns up, he bolts this in.

The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Stylish Start – 6:17pm NSW time

The Lorraine Atchison owned and trained greyhound Stylish Start made just that last week when debuting in a maiden race and winnign well from box 1. Lorraine has been associated as an owner, breeder or trainer with many very good dogs over a long involvement in the sport and looks to have another good one in Stylish Start. By Primo Uno out of Atchison’s former multiple group finalist and placegetter, Ready To Star, this young bitch is bred to stay all day but much like her dam is sprinting very well while young. Takes a strife or two to wind up so we need a little luck early but given a clear run will round up anything that leads this.

Dapto Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Arctic Chill – 9:58pm NSW time

The Sid Swain trained Arctic Chill is going go out good odds in this race and is ideally boxed out wide. The veteran of 19 starts has won 5 and been placed 8 times and at this track and distance has had 4 starts fro 2 wins and a second. His best winning times are 22.75 Richmond, 30.59 Wentworth Park, 30.28 Lithgow and 30.25 here. All the money will come for the 6, He’s Invincible who has won f of 7 but been aided by good draws and has his first real challenge tonight up in grade and poorly boxed. Arctic Chill has the pace to get over from box 8 and steal this at good odds.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 7 – Imposing Jett – 7:25pm Qld time

Ex Townsville greyhound, Imposing Jett is certainly very well traveled and changes states again this week to race at Albion Park after finishing 3rd at Maitland last week .Bobbed up there in the heats of a 450m final with Dave Irwin as trainer and duly saluted on debut at the track. Gave nothing else a chance last week from this same box, leading all the way in a very good 25.30. That win was off the back of a Grafton 4/5th grade all the way win in 27.48 over the 480m. Dave Irwin clearly has the son of Go Wild Teddy and Compliant flying and jumps again from box 7 here at Albion Park tonight over 520m. Has had the one start here for a 2nd and should be better for the look at the track. Has the pace to cross and led from the draw.

Hobart Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – Pretty Pearl – 9:05pm Tas time

Pretty Pearl gets another chance to win a Hobart 461m race after drawing the red box in this 5th grade. The veteran of just 3 career starts, she won a qualifying trial here in 27.10 before winning her maiden in 26.72 from this draw. Had no luck in the final from box 2, gettgin checked early and then headed to Devonport where she tried to crash over from box 8, finishing 6th. Won’t have anything in her way tonight and can jump from box 1 and head straight to the rail where she wants be.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Bar Fridge – 8:28pm SA time

Won’t be anything fancy about the price of this greyhound but having won his last 2 in a row here at Angle Park, now gets a box 1 draw with a slow beginner drawn outside him. Has never been drawn closer to the rail than box 3 in 14 starts, but gives the impression a rails draw would advantage him. Has won 9 of 14 starts, most of them leading all the way. Should have no trouble leading this and with a personal best of 29.93 on the track, nothing in this race can catch him.

Mandurah Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 2 – Deacon Brodie – 7:57pm WA time

Deacon Brodie was a debut winner here at Mandurah from box 1 in 28.01 by 7 lengths back in January before missing the start and finishing 5th there again 9 days later. Had a 2 week break then drawn back in box 1, just missed the start and was galloped on before finishing third 2.5 lengths behind the winner. Prepared to forgive the last start and tonight from box 2 the Dean Starkie trained runner should lead this easily and make it win number 2 from 4 attempts.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 5 – Bally Marie – 2:47pm SA time

Bally Marie was a good last start winner here in 30.27 last Tuesday when leading all the way from box 4. That was first win since 4th January when also leading all the way from box 4. Only moves one box further out to 5, but with a repeat 4.49 first section, she should have no trouble offsetting draw. Has won 9 from 29 starts here and is much better than those graded against her.

The Meadows Greyhounds – Race 11 – Box 1 – Riviera Miss – 3:24pm Vic time

This Tina Womann trained greyhound has had 8 career race starts for just the 1 win, but importantly that 1 win was from this same draw and at this track. Has been boxed out wide at most of her other 7 starts but returns to box 1 here. Led all the way when winning running 5.14, 30.88. That time is only moderate but will be good enough to win this. Look for a massive improvement from this draw.

Shepparton Greyhounds – Race 12 – Box 1 – Miss Twinks – 7:23pm Vic time

Miss Twinks could only manage 4th last start here over 450m after just being fairly away from box 4, but the start prior she led all the way from box 2 over 390m in 8.56, 22.66. That time is just fair, but could well be quick enough to take this out. Gets back to box 1 here and over 390m again and with slow beginners drawn in the 4 boxes to her right, she should get plenty of room to take the lead early and hang on.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Kya Rose Hi – 5:03pm Qld time

The only race that is not a worthless 300m race on the program is race 8, the 5th grade over 520m. Kya Rose Hi looks ridiculously well placed here as the winner of 2 races from 9 starts with one of those wins coming here at Albion Park in 30.78. That win was at her last start here from this box. Graded against some lesser ones today and dropping in grade should prove far too good.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 8 – Hows Things – 8:58pm Vic time

The Kevin Mugavin Jnr trained Hows Things looked very impressive winning here last week in the best of the night 25.38. Bolted in last week from box 4 after finding the lead early and should have little trouble doing the same tonight from box 8. Won his maiden in 26.25 at Warrnambool, but obviously has much more ability then that and has had 5 career starts for 2 wins now and 2 placings.

Nowra Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 5 – Captain Krunch – 4:17pm NSW time

Wouldn’t normally bet in a maiden but with few 520m races on the card, we’re settling for a greyhound that looks like it may have a bright future. Leading youg NSW trainer Darren Sultana is making the long trek from Londonderry to Nowra to give Captain Krunch his first start. By Hallucinate out of Kibble Kruncha he is bred to stay but don’t be surprised if he sprints well while young. Won his performance trial at Richmond in 23.15 over 400m but would’ve only been just getting warmed up over this distance. Big watch on this dog.

The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 2 – Bloss Sannette – 7:47pm NSW time

The only two races on the programme that aren’t 400m lotteries are the 600m middle distance championship heats. The pick of these two races is the first heat where Bloss Sannette looks the bet of the day at The Gardens. The Kevin Johnson trained greyhound has had 26 starts for 15 wins and 3 placings and since resuming from a 2 month spell has been unbeaten in 2 runs. Has already won here in 34.94 when jumping from box 6 and from box 2 today looks far too good for these.

Ipswich Greyhounds – Race 4 – Box 2 – Made To Fly – 7:16pm Qld time

All but one race is taken up with quarter finals of the Vince Curry Memorial with some excellent young greyhounds bound to be on show. But as many are veterans of just the one start, betting in these can be a wealth hazard with the good dogs very short and many dogs in full fields for just the second time. Made To Fly looked very impressive winning her qualifying heat in the best of the day 30.67 on debut from box 3. Gets a good draw her in box 2 and has plenty on these. Should salute.

Cannington Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 1 – Naomi Keeping – 7:52pm WA time

Naomi Keeping went down narrowly here last week from an awkward box 6, running a good time of 30.66 getting beaten. Hasn’t been further back than 4th at her 7 runs since arriving from NSW and gets a better draw here off the rail. Has the pace to lead this and should repeat her effort here 2 starts ago when leading throughout in 30.89.

Casino Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 3 – Jaydo’s Neglect – 2:32pm NSW time

Jaydo’s Neglect has the pace to lead tis field from box 3 and could just steal this race at good odds. The veteran of 71 starts is the winner of 12 races and has run 35 placings. 3 of those win have been over this track and distance, and is in good form with 2 seconds at her past two starts at this track and distance. On both occassions just got run down late after leading, but does look like she can steal more of a break here today.

Traralgon Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Many Talents – 6:04pm Vic time

Many Talents exploded from box 3 here last week and led easily to record the best win of her 15 career starts so far and setting a new Traralgon 513m track record of 29.40. That win came off 3 unplaced runs at Sandown and The Meadows, but importantly the Jenny Gleschen trained greyhound is unbeaten at all 3 starts at this track and distance. Unfashionably bred by Boris Reigns out of Chat Line, this young bitch has a huge future ahead of her and should have no trouble picking up the $2,500 prize on offer today.

The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 1 – Reddy To Whine – 4:27pm NSW time

Reddy To Whine is no young up and comer being an August 2007 whelping and having had 56 starts for 12 wins and 29 placings. Comes in to this race after running two 4ths in a row both from box 1, here and at Maitland, but drops in class on those runs in this race. Normally a fair beginner he is ideally drawn inside a slow beginner and should get galloping room early. Has a personal best of 29.81 here and although not going as well as that now, won’t have to to win this.

Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 2 – Winsome Shiraz – 9:18pm NSW Time

Winsome Shiraz is in the high quality kennel of John and Minnie Finn and wouldn’t be nominated for a race in town lightly. She won her only start in town here in 30.61 3 starts ago, but based on her 29.71 win at Dapto, she can go much quicker here. Has had 13 career starts for 5 wins and 2 placings and gets a good draw here from box 2. Has a fast one boxed on her outside but should get a nice trail and doesn’t have to lead to win.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 8 – Spiritual Gift – 5:53pm Qld time

If Spiritual Gift doesn’t win the last race at Albion Park, you can just about put the pen through it for life. In just a field of 6, and racing in a 3/4th grade race this Keith Boan trained greyhound has been drawn against veteran dogs out of form and younger greyhounds who can’t win it. Having had just the 30 starts for 13 wins, its amazing that a dog with 5 wins from 12 starts at this track and distance and a personal best of 30.23 can get in to this race against greyhounds that have never won here or are well past their prime. Just wins.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 11 – Box 1 – Mepunga Titan – 10:28pm Vic time

Wouldn’t normally bet in these 390m events but Mepunga Titan’s from is too good to ignore and is ideally boxed in box 1. The Joy and Ashley McDowall trained greyhound has won his past 2 starts in good style at Warrnambool in 22.33 and 22.48 from boxes 3 and 8 after taking the charge of both races from the boxes. Was a Warrnambool maiden 390m winner in 22.49 and should be able to lead from box 1 here at Ballarat and make it 4 wins from 7 starts.

Mandurah Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 8 – Paddy Lawlor – 8:47pm WA time

Ex Victorian Paddy Lawlor did the job well last Thursday week for us when a good 405m winner from box 6 in 22.84, leading all the way. Had only moderate form in Victoria with wins at Shepparton in 26.01 and 25.70 from 4 starts. Since landing under the care of Lexia Isaac the son of Premier Fantasy has had 4 starts for 3 seconds and a win. Is up in distance and up in class on his last win but does handle a wide draw and should lead this from box 8 and the breed are generally well up to running out the 490m distance.

Sandown also showcase a few lower class city grade greyhounds with 5th grade heats. Warragul Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 1 – Where’s Bindi – 3:47pm Vic time

On another of these low grade tier 3 meetings, good best are few and far between and you usually have to take short odds about the ones that are. And that’ll be the case with Where’s Bindi in race 10. The Peter Giles trained greyhound has come up with box 1 after winning her maiden on debut from box 2 in 6.62, 26.32. That 6.62 first section will be just enough to hold out Hips Don’t Lie early and with the aid of the rail Where’s Bindi should win convincingly.

Grafton Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 7 – Shalana Magic – 4:17pm NSW time

We declared he Jimmy Madigan trained Shalana Magic last week off box 2, when after slightly missing the start she was heading straight through to challenge the leader before copping interference and coming again to run second. Should have won last start and we need to follow up in this race which is no harder. Shalana Magic has an enviable record over this trip at Grafton, having raced here 12 times now for 5 wins and 6 placings and should atone for last week.

Bendigo Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Dimon Devil – 6:15pm Vic time

Dimon Devil is a last start winner from box 8 at Shepparton in the handy time of 25.68 and comes in this race having drawn the same box. The Bernard Bryce trained greyhound has won 3 of his 4 career victories here at Bendigo over this course and distance and has only ever been unplaced twice here. In a race where a lot of the pace is on the inside, Dimon Devil should be able to stay out of harms way on the outside and prove too good in the run. Best time on this track is 24.27 and won’t have to do much more than that to win this.

Sandown Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 2 – Mid Levels – 8:30pm Vic time

The Peter Giles runner Mid Levels was first up off a 2 month break when winning the top grade race at Sale on Sunday. Not the best away he mustered win by 1.5 lengths in the best of the day, 25.18. Mid Levels is the veteran of 53 starts and has won 18 of them but only 1 here from 10 attempts, although that win was a flying 29.58 from this box. Gets a good draw here and should begin better and lead this field. Has obviously come back in very good fashion and looks the obvious leader.

Maitland Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 8 – Robbo – 10:49pm NSW time

Dapto Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Ruby’s Lair – 9:58pm NSW time

The Tracey Bryant trained Ruby’s Lair had only won 1 race from 8 attempts before the penny dropped and has since put 3 wins end to end at Nowra over the 520m journey in 30.54, 30.19 and 30.63. On each of those occassions, he has jumped moderately but accelerated quickly to be at or near the lead and will need to do that here with quick beginner Obsessed drawn in box 4. But Ruby’s Lair should have enough pace to kick up and hold the corner and stride away with this as he is very strong in the run. Had two prior starts here as a maiden running 30.72 and 30.55 but is going much better than that now.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Outa Credit – 9:11pm Qld time

Last week we declared that Outa Credit and Elite Blue Size would fight this finish out of their race, and they did, but only for second and third as Franklin Style got the better of both of them from box 1. This week Franklin Style is drawn out in box 4 and Outa Credit and Elite Blue Size are drawn next to each other in boxes 1 and 2 respectively. Neither greyhound was disgraced last week only going down by a small margin to Franklin Style when just failing to catch him. Of the two greyhounds Outa Credit was the more impressive, getting back more than six lengths off the lead after getting squeezed out early.Same as last week, look for Franklin Style and Elite Blue Size to lead early but Outa Credit should position up closer this week and get over them both late.

Hobart Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 3 – Mushy Peas – 9:25pm Tas time

Trainer Gary Johnson opted out of starting Mushy Peas in the Launceston Cup heats despite two very impressive back to back wins at Devonport and Launceston in 26.15 and 30.11. Had started in the Devonport Cup heats prior to those two wins, winning his heat in 25.77 before finishing 5th in the final behind St. Pierre. Last start was heavily supported and blitzed a smart Launceston field by seven lengths. Expect an explosive display tonight from box 3, where he has never been unplaced.

Angle Park Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 8 – Cascada Star – 7:25pm SA time

A rare 725m race at Angle Park and a race where only two greyhounds have won over the distance on the track. One of those yet to feature is Cascada Star who has been giving every indication that the 725m will be ideal by storming home in the 600m races, winning her last 3 in a row in 34.86, 35.03 and 35.14. Has positioned up 2nd and 3rd in each of those races and should get a similar cosy run tonight behind Aston Rachael and Screwed Driver, and prove too strong in the last 150m.

Mandurah Greyhounds – Race 3 – Box 1 – Deacon Brodie – 7:16pm WA time

Deacon Brodie was a debut winner here at Mandurah from this box in 28.01 by 7 lengths back in January before missing the start and finishing 5th there again 9 days later. Has had a 2 week break since that run and freshened up looks the bet of the night at Mandurah. Drawn back in box 1 and with slow beginner Swift Mandagery drawn outside him, the Dean Starkie trained runner should lead this easily and make it win number 2 from 3 attempts.

This Shaun Matcott greyhound has won 11 of 24 starts with 9 of them here at Angle Park. Personal best time on the track is 30.09 and has started from box 1 4 times for 3 wins and a 3rd. Last start never had a chance running 6th behind Flying Molly and start prior ran 4th behind Katcha Kihaal after suffering interference. The 3 starts before thatr were all wins here from boxes 2,1 and 5. Dropping in grade in this and should bolt in.

The Meadows Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Okie Bale – 1:39pm Vic time

On a pretty ordinary meeting, it’s difficult to declare one at good odds, so we’ve had to fall back to that should have no trouble bolting in. Okie Bale had box 1 last start here at The Meadows over 600m and led all the way winning in 34.91. Gets box 1 again this week at the same track and distance and should get the same result. Has had box 1 6 times now for 4 wins. Won’t be fancy odds but won’t lose either.

Shepparton Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Phil’s Phantom – 5:32pm Vic time

On a day dominated by maiden races, its difficult to find a trusted conveyance but veteran greyhound Phil’s Phantom might just get the chance to win another one in race 7. The May 2006 whelping has had 118 starts for 13 wins and 50 placings, with 3 of those wins her at Shepparton. The old timer though is in a purple patch of form having won or been placed at all 4 of his last 4 starts. The win was here over 390m when he led all the way from box 6 2 starts ago in 22.62. Gets box 1 today over 390m and might just make it win number 14 at his 119th start.

Albion Park Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 1 – Darling Harbour – 5:03pm Qld time

The only race that is not a worthless 395m race on the program is race 8, the 4/5th grade over 520m. And the greyhound that ran second to our best bet last week here at Albion Park, should be good enough to claim this race herself. Darling Harbour just seems to have found one better than her at her past few starts, running 2nd at 3 of her last 4 runs. A good beginner who likes the rail she is ideally boxed in box 1, and last week led early before being outpaced by Knocka Knows All. Stuck it out strongly down to the line and deserves this win today.

Ballarat Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 8 – Lektra Express – 8:38pm Vic time

We declared Lektra Express last week despite the fact he was racing against the Warragul Cup runner up and although he didn’t win, his run was full of merit and he beat that dog home, running second on merit. Copped planty of interference last week and won’t get that from box 8 tonight. Price will be good because triple group 1 placed Perfect fancy is in the race and will take most of the money, but Lektra Express is in our opinion a potential superstar, who has already twice broken the Warragul 400m track record. Put him in your black book, this bloke is going to win some big races.

Dapto Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 1 – Big Spirit – 9:26pm NSW time

Another one that won’t start huge odds but will win. Big Spirit is trained by Ruth King and has had 4 starts for 2 wins and 2 placings. The last win was here last week at this corresponding meeting, when from box 4 when he strode to the lead at the post the first time and kept going for a handy 30.49 win. This field is no harder and only has to begin as well as last week to hold the rail and stride away with this race.

Richmond Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 8 – All About Tigers – 5:37pm NSW time

All About Tigers looked very good winning at Wentworth Park last Friday afternoon, when leading all the way from box 8 to beat Spring Ruler by 3.5 lengths in 30.88. That win followed a 5th at Bulli , but the run prior was a good 30.01 Dapto 520m win off box 1. Hasn’t put 2 wins back to back yet, but gets the draw here to lead and will take a power of catching once that happens. Should be a fair price and for a son of Primo Uno, has a lot of box speed.

Ipswich Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 3 – Buck’s Boy – 8:15pm Qld time

Buck’s Boy and I’m Different fought out the finish of last weeks 630m race at this corresponding meeting and there is no reason that won;t be the case again tonight. Last week Buck’s Boy copped some early interference which saw him posted back mid field early while I’m Different was able to rest the lead midway down the back straight. Tonight Buck’s Boy is drawn closer to the rail and should have as much trouble getting an better early position. Came over the top of I’m Different late to win last week but should have an easier time of it tonight.

Cannington Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 2 – Uno Reltub – 7:42pm WA time

The Linda Britton trained Uno Reltub has created a big impression in just 2 starts. The undefeated young greyhound is not yet 2 years of age but has put together a 30.65 maiden win and 30.69 5th grade win her at Cannington over this 530m distance. Showed good early pace at both those starts leading all the way from boxes 7 and 1. gets box 2 here and the addition of Aston Clayton makes the race interesting as he has won 3 of 6 career starts. Thankfully here is in this or we would have had to take long odds on about Uno Reltub but as it stands the price should hold up okay. Aston Clayton won’t be any opposition on the track though as Uno Reltub is far to pacey and should lead throughout again.
