New Age Dawns For Tasmanian Greyhound Racing……..We Hope!
As reported here back in September and then again in November, the Tasmanian racing industry is about to undergo some major changes to its management.
The three racing councils that govern thoroughbred, harness and Greyhound Racing are to be abolished and replaced by two new governing boards.

Big Dog Black Ruler Looks For Six Straight Wins
Big Dog Challenge winner Black Ruler will look to extend his Brisbane Greyhound of the Year lead with a sixth straight win this Thursday night at Albion Park.
The 600m king will start from box one in the $5,900 New Years Trophy (race four) and will be chasing another ten-point Thursday night win to take his lead to 184 points.

Greyhounds WA fears the code’s headquarters at Cannington could be closed under a plan to overhaul WA’s racing industry.
A Community awareness campaign will be launched at tonight’s meeting to try to save the venue.

Happy Ending For NZ’s Lost GAP Greyhound Missy
Missy the greyhound may no longer be fast around the racetrack, but her story of survival over 24 days has highlighted her endurance skills.
Missy, a 10-year-old former racing and breeding greyhound adopted by Christchurch couple Barbara and Gary Miln two years ago through Hounds 4 Homes, was found on December 29th after disappearing on December 5.

Kelly Gets Seven Months For SA’s First Anabolic Steroid Positive
As reported here back in November, South Australia’s first positive swab to an Anabolic Steroid had come to light from a Port Augusta Greyhound Racing Club meeting on the 11th October 2008.
The greyhound involved in the inquiry was the Raye Kelly trained Flame McBain and the inquiry was to hear evidence regarding a positive swab to Hydroxystanozolol, a metabolite of the Anabolic Steroid Stanozol.
