Dyna Lachlan Scores A Historic Australian Cup Win

The Andrea Dailly-trained Dyna Lachlan etched his name alongside the greats of the sport with a dazzling victory in the MTD Australian Cup over 525 metres in front of a packed crowd at The Meadows last Saturday night.

The son of Go Wild Teddy and Benden Flex sat behind early trailblazer Galba Jack (5.06 and 17.83) before proving too strong, scoring by three and a half lengths in a Best of Night 29.84, making it two Group 1 wins in as many months (he won the Adelaide Cup in January). Early leader Galba Jack (box two) ran second, while consistent Group performer Prankster (box four) ran third.

Queensland raider High Earner (box five) fell after an early scrimmage on the first turn.

Staying Star Drills ‘Em Again In Macro Meats Super Stayers Final

Staying star Drill ‘Em showed why he is rated as one of the nation’s finest half-milers with an all the way win in the Group 1 Macro Meats Super Stayers Final at The Meadows last Saturday night.

Trained by David Knocker, the brindle chaser jumped straight to lead in the $50,000 to the winner final and never relinquished it, scoring by three and a half lengths over 2009 National Distance Champion Jarvis Bale.

Next Top Model, from box six, finished third, six and a half lengths away from the winner, who ran a fast 42.53. Favourite Satanic Cash ($2.60) ran fifth.

Federer’s Boy Aces The Casino Rapidvite Maiden

A mid race move by Federer’s Boy gave him the impetus to take out the rich Rapidvite maiden at Queen Elizabeth Park yesterday.

As is often the case in these finals, it was a jamming pack that went to the back of the track, and that was where Federer’s Boy started his run. The speedy Hayden’s Run had hit the lead at this stage, but he seemed to be “ankle tapped” and missed a stride, allowing Federer’s Boy to take over.

Even though Hayden’s Run balanced up again to set out after the leader, Federer’s Boy held too many “aces,” and it was game set and match with a cool $4,000 jumping in. The greyhound is also Blue paws registered, so connections receive another $1,000 through that program. The time was 23.42, and the margin just a neck.

Parvo Cases On The Rise In Greyhounds In New South Wales

GRNSW has recently been advised of a significant increase in the incidence of Canine Parvo Virus throughout the state, particularly in the warmer, more humid northern and western areas.

Canine Parvo-virus is highly infections and is rapidly spread through infected dogs, contaminated shoes, clothing and other objects and is ingested by the dog during grooming.

Care should be exercised when moving or accepting dogs onto your property by wearing clean clothing, disinfecting footwear and the use of plastic gloves when possible.

2010 Australian Cup Detailed Form And Tips

Saturday nights 2010 Group 1 Australian Cup has been thrown wide open by the box draw with at least half the field all likely to be within a length of each other in the run to the first corner.

Birthday Boy’s emphatic semi final win should have held him in good stead for this week’s $150,000 to the winner final, but a box 8 draw has seen him posted only a $6 quote at Sportsbet on the fifth line of betting.

Dyna Lachlan, who has drawn the same box which he won the 2009 Group 2 Ballarat Cup from, has been posted the $3.5 favourite, just ahead of Queensland speedster High Earner who is a $4.25 quote at Sportsbet.

Birthday Boy Gets His Group 1 Chance In Australian Cup

There has never been any question about the ability of Steve Elsum-trained greyhound Birthday Boy, but he gets the chance to take his career to another level in this Saturday night’s Group 1 Australian Cup final at The Meadows.

Birthday Boy was the fastest of the eight heat winners by some three and a half lengths on Saturday night when clocking the sensational time of 29.71sec over the 525 metres.

The next fastest heat time was recorded by 2009 Hobart Thousand winner Prankster [29.91], followed by High Earner [29.92] and Galba Jack [29.94].

Other heat winners were Dyna Lachlan [30.08], Manuel Bale [30.20], Arvo’s Breeze [30.22] and Dyna Obelia [30.47] with all eight earning their way into the prestigious final.

While Birthday Boy has posted an impressive 21 wins from 70 career starts, victory this Saturday night would be his first at group level and would see the son of Where’s Pedro claim a $150,000 first prize.

Meanwhile, promising South Australian distance chaser Satanic Cash was the fastest of the two heat winners in the Group 1 Macro Meats Super Stayers series on Saturday night over 725 metres at The Meadows.

Satanic Cash made it 12 wins from 25 starts when defeating Drill ‘Em by three lengths in 42.43sec, while the other heat winner was the Jason Thompson-trained Next Top Model in 42.89sec.

The $50,000 to-the-winner Group 1 Macro Meats Super Stayers final will be run at this Saturday night’s Australian Cup meeting.

All roads lead to the Meadows on Saturday night with a host of entertainment to be enjoyed on course and some red hot action on the track with the highlights the two Group 1 finals the MTD Australian Cup and the Macro Meats Super Stayers Trophy. Listed below are the fields in box draw order.

Arsonist Too Hot For 2010 DDC Launching Pad Final

Brilliant youngster Arsonist stamped her potential with a brilliant all-the-way-win in a memorable Group 2 DDC Launching Pad at Sandown Park tonight.

Sent to the boxes a $1.90 favourite after her brilliant win in last week’s heat, Arsonist again took full advantage of box one to lead clearly through the first turn. Recent Group 1 Silver Chief winner Enry Walt ($4.70) recovered from a moderate start to follow Arsonist through the turn and the pair soon cleared away from the pursuing pack.

The imposing 38.7kg Enry Walt reduced the margin to just one length coming off the back. As the pair turned for home, Arsonist stuck to the rail as Enry Walt drifted wide, and the former South Australian raced to the line to take the $25,000 first prize in a slick 29.88.
