Abbadale Gold Gets Three Into Galaxy But Can They Beat Miata?
Record-breaking superstar, Miata, will be the one to beat in Saturday nights’ $120,000 to the winner Sky Racing Galaxy final, after another crushing win on Saturday night.
Posting the fastest qualifying time of 41.58 around Cannington’s 715 metres, the daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and Winsome Bluebird romped home by 12 lengths from box five and will once again have to be content with a middle box, having come up with the blue vest for the final.
While she took a little while to get going in her heat, mostly due to a collision with Kalden Petroni, the strength of this bitch cannot be underestimated. The winner of 18 from 22 will no doubt provide Paul Stuart with many more thrilling displays now that she has experience over the longer journeys.

Where’s Pedro Takes Top Honours For 2011 Breeding Statistics
With another year in the Greyhound Racing world done and dusted, there has been a mix of the experienced and youthful sires amongst those who have produced Group winners in 2011. In 2010, Surf Lorian and Bombastic Shiraz shared top spot for the most group winners produced however Where’s Pedro beat them both to the line this year with 12 group winners. Second place went to Bombastic Shiraz with 10 and in third spot was Collision with 10.
Fancy Will, trained by leading Sydney trainer Anthony Azzopardi was Pedro’s only Group One winner for 2011 when he took out the Paws of Thunder at Wentworth Park back in October. However it is no surprise that his most successful Group winning greyhound was Carolyn Jones’ all conquering El Grand Senor. In 2011 he took out the Group Two Shepparton Cup, Traralgon Cup and the Warragul Cup racking up plenty of points for his father.
2010 leading sire Bombastic Shiraz had to settle for second best this year but only missed out on top spot by two winners. However, he does claim honours for having sired the most Group One winners for 2011 with 5. Bobby Boucheau trained by Angela Jackson, daughter of leading Victorian trainer Kel Greenough was his most successful progeny contributing three Group One victories which included; Sandown Cup, Australian Super Stayers and the Albion Park Gold Cup. Spring Gun trained by Christine Oldfield dominated the Vic Peters Final at Wentworth Park whilst Metz Magic who started as second reserve took out the National Sprint Championship at Albion Park for Queensland legendary trainer Ron Ball.

S.A Derby Brings Yeehah For Yowyeh.
It was all celebrations for the connections of consistent sprinter, Yowyeh, who took out the Group 3 Coca-Cola S.A Derby on Thursday night at Angle Park.
With every heat winner breaking 30-seconds, it was always going to be an even affair; but the son of Premier Fantasy and Que Sera Sera went into the nights’ main event as one of the fancied chances, along with fellow Victorians, Black Hombre, Shivine and Allen Lawson.
Out of the boxes it was Yowyeh that showed the most dash with an impressive 4.44 first section. Black Hombre began hitting top speed down the back and actually took the front, while Explosive Drop had settled close on the heels of the leading duo.

The ex- Victorian chaser accounted for hot favourite Pudzianowski (Pure Octane – Petal) and Awesome Naz (Collision – Brami’s First) in the time of 26.02 and in doing so returned the handsome win dividend of $39.50.

By Name And By Nature – WA’s Spring Gift Goes To The Legend.
It may have been the omen tip the night for trainer John Carmody, as veteran sprinter Spring Legend landed the $12,000 W.A Sprint Gift final. With Pedrosa still sidelined, it didn’t detract from the quality of the field with all the fancied hopes winning heats the previous weekend.
It would be Rock Pool and Rousay who would battle for favouritism for the final, with the former eventually being sent around at $2.30 popular pick. The other two heat winners were Oliver Allen ($12.30) and of course, Spring Legend, who eventually paid $7.70 on the local TAB.
While Spring Legend began fast and lead all the way, some commission from the $12,000 winners’ cheque should go to stayer, Barney Stinson, who made a beeline for the rail and flattened half the field before the post the first time around. This allowed Spring Legend to enjoy a saloon passage across the field and to safe territory heading into the first bend.
