Exciting youngster, Knocka Knows All, delivered on all the hype by sizzling at The Gardens in one of the fastest maiden debuts ever at the Newcastle circuit in a heat of the $15,000 to the winner Greyhound Recorder Mega Maiden yesterday afternoon (Friday).
The Reg Kay owned and trained galloper set the track alight running a sensational 29.45, by far the fastest qualifier for next week’s rich final and in the process sent a stern warning to his rivals in the rich final.
Kay has stated over the past two months that the son of Knocka Norris and Miss Venamite, is the fastest chaser he has trained at the same age. This is a lofty statement considering the likes of Group one Winners and record breakers such as Elite State, Made To Size, Knocka Norris, Elite Oriental and Size Can Matter that have pass through his kennels.

Kay And Edmondson Size Up The Gardens
The Group One winning team of Julie Edmondson and Reg Kay will once again be a dominant force at today’s Gardens meeting.
Yesterday the pair’s kennel star, Elite Blue Size ran a sensational 24.94 to be the fastest qualifier for the Group Two Maitland Gold Cup. The time was only two hundredths of a second outside Accounts’ 450 metre course record and he should start a hot favourite in the final, which is worth $25,000 to-the-winner next Thursday.
Earlier this year, Elite Blue Size won the Group Two Gosford Gold Cup in January, before taking out the Group One NCA National Derby at The Gardens a month later.

Gosford Gold Cup Fit For Size
Again with the big occasion timing of Bart Cummings, veteran maestro Reg Kay, the 2008 Australian Trainer of the Year, annexed yet another Group final, this time the Group 2 Woy Woy Poultry Gold Cup at Gosford, with emerging star Elite Blue Size.
In a race of hard luck stories, Reg, a lottery winner from way back, enjoyed the rails draw and all the favours possible as Elite Blue Size ($5.50) rallied when favourites Take The Kitty ($2.70) and Lochinvar Marlow ($3.60) brought each other undone as they looked to have the measure of the winner.
But it was all honours to Reg who trained a winning treble on the night. However in the Cup final, Lochinvar Marlow, who had lengths on the final field with his spectacular 29.72 heat win, was the chief sufferer.

High Earner Proves To Be Just That In Qld Derby
Australia’s newest superstar sprinter High Earner ($2.50) swept to his third Group victory in 18 starts when he won Thursday night’s Group 2 Qld Derby (520m) at Albion Park.
The son of Collision-Double Guess led throughout to win by three-quarters of a length over Fedex with a head to Dashing Corsair in third.
High Earner has now won 13 of his 20 race starts and been placed six times.

Jacobs Well-based businessman and Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club sponsor Paul Felgate might just get a fairytale this Thursday night in his tenth anniversary of sponsoring the Queensland Derby.
The Group Two race, which dates back to the Gabba Greyhound Racing Club where the home of the Brisbane Lions now stands, was first sponsored by Mr Felgate’s electrical contractors business in 1999.
Now ten years on the former greyhound trainer has his first greyhound in the race as owner of speedy dog, Jamaican Bolt, named after the flamboyant world sprinting sensation from Jamaica, Usain Bolt.

Golden Easter Egg Carnival Final Night Preview & Tips

El Galo Is 2008 Australian Greyhound of The Year
The Jason Thompson trained speed machine, El Galo was declared the 2008 Sky Channel Australian Greyhound Of The Year at a magnificent gala function in Sydney’s Sheraton on the Park last Friday evening.
El Galo started 34 times during 2008 for 23 wins, six seconds and two thirds. The explosive blue son of Where’s Pedro enjoyed spectacular success at Group level. He won the Group 1 Brisbane Cup, Group 2 Bendigo Cup, Warrnambool Cup, Gold Coast Cup and Bulli Gold Cup and was placed in the Australian Cup, Paws of Thunder and Wangaratta Cup.
Owner, Seona Hood, enthralled the large crowd with a heart felt acceptance speech, confirming in the process that the end of El Galo’s racing career may be near. El Galo has qualified for Saturday night’s $150,000 to the winner Nice Products Golden Easter Egg Final at Wentworth Park. He will start favourite and victory will almost certainly close the door on what has been a truly brilliant career.

Miss Slick’s Last Stride Local 2009 Perth Cup Victory
Max and Pam Julien enjoyed their greatest moment in the sport when Miss Slick ($4.00) scored a last stride victory in the 2009 Group 1 Sky Channel Perth Cup final with the super star bitch they bred defeating the leader Victorian Trew Millions ($10.90) for trainer Tina Womann.
Miss Slick (Bombastic Shiraz- Little Lamplight) settled in second some four lengths behind the leader Trew Millions, however as she approached the home corner she dug deep and reeled in the Victorian as they got to the line to score WA’s first victory since local chaser Nifti Fire won in 2000 for Jodie Harding.
The win with $140,000 first prize cheque took her stake earnings past WA’s best ever chaser Sandi’s Me Mum as the richest WA stake earner with the total now earned being in excess of $354,000 all won on WA tracks a great advertisement for the WA breeding and racing scene.

In the 33 years since Dennis Calleja‟s greyhound Marcus Rate took out the first running of the W.A. Gold Cup, as it was then known, the Sky Channel Perth Cup, has developed into one of the country‟s most important group one classics.
His first prize of $1300 pales when compared to the $140,000 on offer to the winner of this year‟s cup on April 21st.
The race has had a number of sponsors over the years and was known as the Brownes Gold Cup from 1976 to 1986. In 1987 it was called the Australis Mining Gold Cup, in 88 it was the Fairplay Gold Cup then from 1989 until 1992 it was called the Winfield Gold Cup.

This week‟s final of the Group 1 Sky Channel Perth Cup is set up for a classic finish after 8 exciting heats last Saturday night at Cannington, that were dominated by Mantra Lad’s sensational win running the second quickest time around Cannington in history.

Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound’s free Greyhound Racing Tips for Saturday 7th March 2009. Last night’s results were again an improvement over the previous results, and we found 4 winners including $5.60 (Best price) winner Punk Appeal at Richmond. for a nice profit on the night.
Our free Tips weren’t without their dissapointments though, Regal Blaze fell soon after the start in his race and unfortunately for connections looked like he fractured a shoulder, which will almost certainly finish his racing career.

International Group winning dog Size Can Matter has won the prestigious 2008 Cartwright Property Group Queensland Greyhound of the Year.
The Group One Perth Cup and Platinum Paws winner was announced at a Moulin Rouge-themed Gala Event at the Sofitel Grand Ballroom amongst 300 industry leaders, and presented by the Queensland treasurer and minister responsible for racing, the Hon. Andrew Fraser.
