Age shall not weary Queen Esther in final of Ladies Bracelet

New South Wales trainer is “so thankful” sprinter Queen Esther will step out in the final, with her early pace set to test the talented field at on Saturday night.

Finishing second in her heat last week, the daughter of and was pipped on the line by a head in a time of 29.90. After jumping brilliantly as expected, this 25kg lightweight has regained her form at the metropolitan circuit over the past few weeks, coming from behind to claim victory two-starts back in 30.14.

Holloway is confident the $7.50 on offer for Queen Esther at William Hill was justified, with another gutsy performance from the greyhound she bred and won 22 races with on the cards.

“Queen Esther is sound in every way and my main hope is that she jumps well tonight and her does her best first section,” she said.

“Obviously all the bitches in this race are very competitive, so here's hoping to a great race.”

Most would expect Queen Esther to be at the front of the field in the early stages, consistently recording speedy early sections such as 5.37, which she clocked last week in her minor defeat to Elfen Bale.

Talk has surrounded her retirement with tonight being start number 84, however Holloway is waiting for the right time to send her to the breeding barn.

“When the time comes for her to finish racing I will certainly breed with her, but I haven't put any thought into which sire I would be most suitable for her yet,” she said.

“She has been an amazing dog and is very much loved.”

Although Queen Esther is undoubtably loved by everyone who meets her, litter sister and NSW Distance Champion Queen Marina feels the opposite, as Holloway is forced to adjust her vehicle when both greyhounds travel together, as is the case tonight.

“In my station wagon, Queen Esther sits on the back seat and Queen Marina in the back with a divider between them. I also have to put up a towel so they don't see each other, as Queen Esther always states her authority,” Holloway said.

“Queen Marina only tolerates her behaviour for a short time before retaliating.”

Queen Esther will exit from box five in race eight, scheduled for 9.57pm EDT and is $7.50 with William Hill fixed odds. New customers at William Hill can claim up to $700 in bets.
