Andy Lords Begins 2010 As He Ended 2009 At Canberra

As everyone continues to welcome in the New Year, racing at on Sunday night was the perfect kick off for Gunning trainer Andy Lord who scored five winners for the evening, following on from training four winners at the final 2009 meeting.

Lord opened his account in race 2 where Cawbourne Jake managed to jump on the bunny, to lead all the way over Apidra who put up a gallant fight only being defeated by half a length, Sir Pedro putting in his strong late run to finish in third, 30.61 recorded for the journey.

Ritza Nat took out the fourth event, half a length again the winning margin, this time over kennel mate , Semenya rounding out the placings in the 25.80 event.

The Gunning trainer then made the running double, with Meatlovers making the most of the inside draw, in the ACTTAB sprint heat 1, allowing the black Stryker's Shadow x Sarah Dean bitch to get a better start than race favourite Galba Magic (box 8) posting 7.69, 17.98, 6 3/4lengths clear of the pink, Walkabout Jill coming in third.

Race seven went to Unique Unit who put in a BON performance winning heat two of the ACTTAB 5th Grade sprint heats in 17.83.

Lord producing another running double when Jetwash made the most of the cherry in the Ready 4 Plumbing Best 8 440m event, stepping well and able to hold the rails run the white and black Collide dog opened up down the back to streak 10 lengths clear, , Belfast Beauty and battling it out for the minors.

Mancunian Kool just holding on for second from Belfast Beauty, 25.49 the winning time recorded.

trainer also had a good day with a win and two minors with his three starters.

Millwood opened his account in the first, with Mindariva starting odds on favourite, and just sneaking in from Midnight Cruizer and Demon Fighter.

His other two starters, Semenya and Aranda paying their own way in Races 4 and 7 respectively.

Joe and Diedre Jenkins, also posted two good wins for the evening taking out heat three of the ACTTAB 5th grade sprint and mixed 440m event.

Elite Highway starting well off the outside alley, scooting around early trouble and picking up the lead down the back to claim the 440m mixed in 25.81 ahead of heavily supported Berridale Flash and Andy Flex.
John Boy booking his spot in next week's final, picking up early leader Odnoc Annie on the home turn to kick away and win by 2 1/4lengths, coming in third.

The only other winner of the evening went the way of Jerrawa trained Plow Master for the Banksia Boys Syndicate, trained by Lisa McFarlane.

Gaining a start from the blue box, the red fawn dog stepped well along with kennelmate Berridale Queen, and after creating room for himself, to the detriment of Berridale Queen the son of and Dott polished off the 440metre feature final in 25.84, ahead of Berridale Queen and Mild Violence.

The win returning $30 with ACTTAB, a nice boost for .
