Surf Lorian’s Wave of Breeding Success Continues In Australian Breeding Rankings

With the release of the Australian Greyhound Breeding Rankings for October it appears no one can stop the Surf Lorian wave with his clear dominance at the top of the table once again for his successful production of multiple winners over the past month.

Runner up for the month was Bombastic Shiraz while just edged out Collision for third spot by four points.

Surf Lorian's most recent group winner, Isadoll (x Isadora) produced an outstanding 29.93 dominant win in the Group One Schweppes Vic Peters Final at on October 30th, giving Surf Lorian some last minute extra points.

Trained by Wayne Vanderburg, she used box 8 to perfection clocking a very handy 5.44 early, leading from start to finish and gapped the second placegetter, Red Flame who is also trained by Vanderburg; and in his own right also launched star status earlier in the Paws of Thunder heats in September where he recorded a respectable 29.82.

Isadoll now has an impressive resume of eight wins and three minor placings from just fifteen starts.

Primo Uno and Bombastic Shiraz both sired two group winners each for the month of October with Primo Uno's offspring Uno Kendra (x Sensation Lee) taking out the Group One Schweppes at Cannington in 30.51 for successful Western Australia trainer David Hobby, while Chachi (x Hannalore) for owner-trainer Frank Hancock in a speedy 30.23 took out the Group Two .

The ever popular Bombastic Shiraz never fails to sire a group winner during a month and in October his protégé Lochinvar Marlow (x Sensation Lee) took out the illustrious Paws of Thunder final at Wentworth Park for trainer , giving him his first group one success by a outstanding eight lengths in 29.90, defating multiple group winners including; Smooth Fancy, Cosmic Chief and Enry Walt.

Bombastic Shiraz seems to be dominating both the sprinting and staying ranks at present with the emergence of boom stayer Nana Cook (x Cookie's Habit) who has recorded some impressive times over the 720 metre journey at Wentworth Park recently, obviously pleasing her trainer Geoff Cook.

With the staying ranks depleted at present, Nana Cook could contest several of the upcoming group staying races with a likeable chance. Her Group Two win, stamped her place as a serious staying contender when she led all the way from the difficult box 5 in an exceptional 42.38.

Runner up Blue Lorian, who is currently ranked third on the Association's Group Race Rankings, used the whole 720 metres to try and catch Nana Cook but was unsuccessful and the Distance Champion had to settle for second place.

Still on Blue Lorian his dam Winsome Bluebird still sits atop the rankings table for Broodbitches for October narrowly edging out Rosemary Bale, who is responsible for distance star . The popular Frosty Fruits who came in third position, recently whelped a litter of 5 pups to superstar El Galo.

The biggest mover in the rankings ladder was Sensation Lee (Brett Lee x Grigorieva). A smart bitch over the shorter distances, she notched up 29 wins and 7 minor placings from 47 starts which included track record wins at Traralgon and Cranbourne. Her class and style of racing has consistently rubbed off onto her offspring which includes; Lochinvar Vogue (Wentworth Park ), Lochinvar Marlow (Paws of Thunder) and most recently Uno Kendra (Schweppes).

Any future litters from Sensation Lee will not only attract big dollars but it would be worth keeping an eye on, with the likely potential of another group winner.
