2016 Group 1 National Futurity – free tips and best odds

TWO Group 1s will feature on a strong card of racing at Wentworth Park this Saturday night, the first of which being the National Futurity (520 metres).

Open to bitches whelped on of after July 1, 2013, this year's series has attracted some quality female sprinters, with the current favourite being the Andrea Dailly-trained Dyna Maddie.

The daughter of and Erica Allen, $2.80 with Crownbet, was the fastest qualifier from last week's heats, recording an eight-and-one-quarter length triumph in a slick 29.70. Despite only stepping fairly from box two, the red fawn bitch was able to hold her position on the fence, railing under lamplighter Sawadee down the back before charging clear.

Dyna Maddie will move into box three for this week's $75,000-to-the-winner decider, looking for her fourth career victory at start 10.

Fellow Victorians My Girl Chloe (box two), Lyka Allen (box six) and Mepunga Rosie (box seven) will also be aiming to take the title home south, the latter rated the best chance by bookmakers at $13 following her credible 30.23 heat win.

Fantastic Skye, a member of Jason Fletcher's airborne Goodesy x Light Fantastic litter, will have to overcome box eight to score, but is more than capable if she can time the start right. The blue bitch is already a Group winner, having won the under the tutelage of Kel Greenough, and she now returns home to a track where she holds a commanding 29.85 personal best.

Also well in the market is Natahli Dedee for Loretta Rice which will be aiming to give her sire, the mighty Queensland champion Glen Gallon, his first win as a sire when she jumps from box one. The red brindle youngster has only faced the starter on 13 occasions, but has already amassed eight wins and three minor placings, with some slick times recorded at Dapto (29.77) and Richmond (30.53).

The Group 1 National Futurity is race six on the card this Saturday night and is set to jump at 9:13pm AEDT.

Lets check out the form of each runner in this years final, with individual comments on their chances and the best bookmaker prices available.

“Promising young bitch which is boxed to lead and comes into the event with plenty of confidence following her all-the-way 30.14 heat win. She has been racing some of the best greyhounds in NSW in her most recent starts and she is improving with every run. She has already proven that she can break the 30 second barrier here and I think with a bit of luck in running she could sneak away with the prize.”

“Comes from one of the best kennels in Australia and was very impressive here last week running past the classy Fantastic Skye to score in 30.25. She can be a bit tardy early so she will need to bring her best, but she does look well suited in box two to get a sit behind the speedy Natahli Dedee.”

“Very impressive when scoring here last week in 29.70 and with a clear run she should win this event. The only concern is she is drawn on the inside of Cash In Motion which does tend to go left at the start, so she will need to jump better than last week to avoid the bother.”

“Very talented bitch which tends to do a lot of things wrong in her races. If she happened to jump I think she would blow them away, but she mixes her box manners too much to be able to tip her with confidence.”

“Classy bitch which ran second behind My Girl Chloe in her heat after leading in the early stages. She is much better than that run and she is capable of handling herself from wide boxes. She will need to do everything right but if she does she is certainly in the mix.”

“Led early before being tackled by the classy Dyna Maddie which roared away down the back. She is a very quick beginner on her night, but she probably needs to find a couple of tenths in the last half of her races to be competitive at this level.”
