2016 Group 2 Warrnambool Cup – best odds and free tips

Marbo's Magic after winning Maitland Cup

UNLAWFUL Entry is the favourite to take out Wednesday night's Warrnambool Cup (450m) after his dominant 24.72 track record breaking run in his heat last week.

Trained by , the brindle and white greyhound is rated a $3.60 shot with Sportsbet to take home the $47,000 winner's , having drawn box three for the decider. The son of and She Ain't Late will be aiming to capture his third group trophy in the feature, having already won the Group 1 Hobart Thousand and the Group 2 Great Chase, with a victory set to take his prize money earnings above $278,000.

Also right in contention for the title is Zambora Brockie ($3.80) which has drawn unfavourably in box six for Anthony Azzopardi. The black dog was emphatic in his qualifier last week, exploding from the traps to record an airborne 29.79 win off box five. If the son of Nitro Burst and Flying Liddy can replicate the same early section in this week's final, it is hard to see anything matching him early and they will find it hard to run him down if he is clocking sub 24.80 on the bunny.

Azzopardi has two runners in the feature, his other contender being Marbo's Magic ($6.50) off box five. While the draw is not ideal, the talented youngster was able to salute in the Group 2 Gold Cup wearing yellow, if he gets clear room early he is capable of making a huge impact. A veteran of just the 13 starts, the black chaser has won his last 12 straight and has run some times around NSW – expect to see some massive things from him in the next few months.

Aston Bolero ($7), which ran second behind Marbo's Magic in the Maitland Cup last month, returned to Victoria with two impressive wins at Warrnambool – clocking 24.80 and 24.94 respectively. The Jason Thompson-trained speedster has drawn box seven in the $47,000 to the winner final, a draw from which he has won three of his four starts to date.

In an open race, To The Galo's is also under double figure odds at $8.50 with William Hill. The son of , who took out the Warrnambool Cup in 2008, has already proven his class, winning the Group 2 Warragul Cup in January, and has since gone on to win four of his six starts since, culminating with a hot 24.96 heat win last week. The Philip Smith-prepared greyhound will jump from box two in the final, a box from which he has won just the one race in five attempts.

Also given rough chances with bookies are Mystery Ride ($11) and Marley Bale ($15) which will bookend the field in boxes one and eight respectively. Both greyhounds made their debut over the track and trip last week, with Mystery Ride clocking 24.93 and Marley Bale stopping the timer in 25.01. Both are capable of improvement and have the right boxes to showcase their best on Wednesday.

Rounding out the field from box four is Deano's Gadget ($81) which comes into the final having won her heat in 25.33. The only bitch in the field, the daughter of Nitro Burst and Tizzatango is armed with sizzling early speed, however she is racing with the big boys in this race and may find the going a little tough.

The Group 2 Warrnambool Cup is race six this Wednesday night and is set to jump at 8:38pm.
