Albion Park Greyhounds Race 8 Box 1 Wag Tail 9.08pm

I can't wait to see this race tonight. Wag Tail the reigning Queensland distance champion takes on the equal holder over 520 metres, Late Angel Lee. Late Angel Lee made his long awaited debuted over the staying trip last week, and while he won, he was far from impressive. He screamed out of the boxes, an almighty lead early and he got that far in front at one stage the others stopped chasing. However his overall time of 42.41 was poor and as they turned for home he was lucky to make it up the straight. Harsh judgement some people will say, buy I don't believe he will make a top line stayer. Sure it was his first attempt but he's going to need to improve a minimum ten lengths and get down around 41.80 mark, and I can't see this happening.

Late Angel Lee is a super talented type and a genuine 1 dog over 500 metres. He's no slouch early either, when he has drawn inside he often springs the lids. Hopefully we see him head to Melbourne soon where he can really threaten in the big ones and fly the flag for Queensland.

One or two things happen tonight; Late Angel Lee flys out and sets up a huge lead and gets run down turning for home by Wag Tail; or he suffers second up syndrome and doesn't fire a shot. Either way I'll be laying the pants off this fellow. Wag Tail can also motor early and from box one she'll lob handy and prove far to strong and classy for this line up. Great bet and will win.

Never Tell could be a sneaky place chance. He is used to chasing a long way off the bunny and will likely sneak up along the rail and get home hard as they enter the home straight.

Suggested Bets:

  • Have a win bet on Wag Tail and take a First 4: 1- 2,4-2,4,5,6,7-2,4,5,6,7
  • Quadrella: Leg 1: 2, Leg 2: 1,2,3, Leg 3: 4,8, Leg 4: 1 – $12.00 for 100%

Angle Park Greyhounds Race 4 Box 5 Benchmark 8.14pm

Benchmark is a long way down in class tonight and looks a massive chance of bouncing back to the winners circle. The old boy is 4.5 years of age but still racing in great form. Two starts ago he broke 30.00 chasing home Fire and a few back he got the cash in 29.98 in top grade from box eight.

Tonight's task is much easier, he tackles a field that have collectively only won seven starts from their past seventy attempts. Benchmark can show pace and while he generally likes room to move, he should still get that from box five tonight if he jumps. He's recorded a best time of 29.79 here and while he hasn't run that recently, he's more then capable of going close should he lead tonight.

There's not a great deal of pace inside him, and this should allow him to jump and find his feet before the first turn. $3.00 should be available and if it is, jump aboard, he looks the winner to me. Box eight runner Surf Osti could be the danger, if he gets across early he should be working hard on the outside and can get the cash.

Suggested Bets:

  • Quadrella: Leg 1: 2,4, Leg 2: 1,3,4,7, Leg 3: 1,3,8, Leg 4: 1,5,8 – $72.00 for 100%

Dapto Greyhounds Race 4 Box 2 Essay Spok 8.35pm

Terrible race and I reckon you can cross out nearly the entire field in this. Maidens are never easy but Essay Spok, White Zombie and Silver Ashlie look the only ones capable of winning.

Box eight runner White Zombie should start favourite after running second here two starts back in a fast 30.14 behind Ada Mary. That night White Zombie jumped second from box seven and stayed there the entire race recording her fastest PB here. I do however get the feeling she's a non-winner and for that reason I'll be backing Essay Spok. With fourteen career starts and seven placings, White Zombie has recorded mixed times and has had her chance and failed to .

Essay Spok a few back starts back was beaten in solid time at when beginning fast and nearly leading all the way. That day she stopped the clock in 31.02 which is a fair run considering the tough Richmond circuit. If she can jump tonight and find the lead she'll give them plenty to catch. She looks capable of running 30.20 and that should easily win this. As long as $3.00-$4.00 is on offer she's worth having a go at.

Box five runner Silver Ashlie could be the smokey, her run at was enough to suggest she can be in the mix in this should she jump and get forward.

Hobart Greyhounds Race 7 Box 5 Faolan 9.25pm

Odds of $7.00 or more may be on offer for Faolan tonight. I've put the money on him recently but haven't been too disappointed in losing it. Tonight he gets to spring out and find the top. It's important that he finds the lead in his races as that's when he goes best.

In his past couple he's nearly managed to lead but just failed to cross over in time. Tonight from out wide he gets his chance to spring out and find the top. If he manages to, I expect he can run 26.15 and that will win this. He's won plenty from outside boxes and has recorded a sub 26.00 second run. In an open race, he looks a chance so have a go at him in this.

Box one runner Rockvel has been going well lately and racing in career best form. He's suited by the inside draw and will get the run of the race on the rail. He's likely to start close to favourite though so I doubt he'll be worth backing. Tough little race but I'll stick with Faolan as he'll be the value.

Sandown Greyhounds Race 10 Box 3 Know Class 10.14pm

I didn't mind the run of former New Zealander Know Class who ran fifth here last week over the 595 metre trip. He's proven over the staying trip having won over 732 metres in NZ. He looks capable of leading here and that will be half the battle. Getting a clear run and finding the will bring the best out of this fellow.

Most of the top fancies are stepping up in trip tonight and that's always a tough ask first up. Mepunga Tiara and Zipping Joe both have to make the leap up but both look suited to the trip.

Tonight's run is only the third start for Know Class here in Australia, so expect him to be just about in tip top form. It's quite possible double figure odds could be on offer and if so, he's a fantastic eachway chance in a race of a few unknowns. I suggest taking him in a roving first 4: rover 3 -,1,2,4,6; and also backing him each way.

Best of luck
