Traralgon Cup betting tips and best bookie odds for 2016 running

EREN Bale will be aiming to secure the biggest victory of his career when he contests the Traralgon Cup (525m) on Saturday night.

Drawn in box two, the son of Bella Infrared and Fyna Bale is the $3.80 favourite with Crownbet and comes into the final as the fastest qualifier, having recorded a slick 29.96 in his heat last weekend.

A winner of nine from 19 overall, the fawn dog meets a classy field including Jesaulenko ($4.50) which is the current track record holder over the 525m trip.

Trained by Terri-Maree Morris, the 32.9 kilogram speedster is well drawn in box seven where he has won three of his five starts wearing black.

Jesaulenko brings tremendous form into the race, having only been defeated once in his last six starts when finishing second behind Demon Bale in his heat, with the black dog more than capable of turning the tables in the decider.

Demon Bale ($4) has drawn awkwardly in box four for the final but is a model of consistency and must be respected. At his first start over the track and trip last week he showed plenty of class when stopping the clock in 30.02. He will need a touch of luck in the early stages but can feature.

Pantera Nera is a $6 chance with Sportsbet and will be out to pinch the race on the bunny. A brilliant beginner, the son of Milldean Panther and Go Jessie's Girl is more than capable of finding the front from box six and if he can avoid trouble he should go close to breaking the 30 second barrier.

Amelia Christa represents value at $6 – she loves the inside and is drawn perfectly in box one. Would probably need to improve on her 30.29 personal best but is capable of doing so.

Allen Portland doesn't win all that often but he has finished in the money at his past four starts and is drawn on the right side of the track to do so again on Saturday.

Funky Pirate has his share of ability but would have been much better suited closer to the fence – although at $31 he could add some value to the exotics.

Wot Price Flash ($41) rounds out the field – he is in great form and has won seven from 16 overall – but this is a massive rise in class and box five has done him no favours.

The Group 2 Traralgon Cup is race seven on the card this Saturday and is set to jump at 7:05pm.
