Allen Harper Named Australia’s Greyhound Of The Month For October 2011

AGRA's for October is brilliant Victorian sprinter Allen Harper. In October he raced in three Group 1 finals the Paws Of Thunder, the and the Top Gun, winning the “Gun” in brilliant fashion. In an outstanding performance at on October 22 he easily accounted for the hand-picked field, leading most of the way in 29.82.

The impressive youngster made the Paws Of Thunder final in early October finishing fourth behind Fancy Will. He had already tasted success at winning the Group 1 Peter Mosman Memorial in June.

In Allen Harper's heat of the Adelaide Cup on October 6th he recorded the fast time of 29.47, but fin-ished unplaced behind Mepunga Nicky in the final.

In the it was a different story the lightly-raced star sprinter dashed to the early lead, carving out sectionals of 5.09 and 17.64 in a dominant display of speed. The son of Over Flo and Kazar Bale maintained his authority to the line, stopping the clock in 29.82. He defeated kennel mate Radley Bale and sole Queensland runner Bogie King.

His next mission is the this Thursday night he takes on Radley Bale, Bekim Bale and Cape Hawke in the $40,000 to winner feature, he will follow that performance with a start in the Heats of the Group 1 on November 10, the final is on November 17 carrying a first prize of $200,000.

Allen Harper is a Black dog whelped May '09 by Over Flo from Kazar Bale (Go Wild Teddy x Siandra Bale). He raced by Janice Wheeler and trained by and the Group 1 Topgun was Allen Harper's 14th win with three placings from 20 starts. The $125,000 first prize took his stake earnings to $204,590.

In October we had eleven group races decided. Allen Harper beat Group 1 winners Mepunga Nicky and Fancy Will. Plus winners Shintaro Samurai, Vocal Enforcer, Duffy and Marbro Man for the monthly award.
