Potential Postitive Swab Alert To Greyhound Trainers

Greyhound () today issued a warning to members of the sport about the prolonged excretion time of the prohibited substance , a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug () commonly found in the registered veterinary product .

As a NSAID, Firocoxib is screened for in samples taken from greyhounds and the detection of this substance in a sample would constitute an offence under Greyhound Australasia Rule 83.

There is no known data supporting the withholding period of any preparation containing Firocoxib in greyhounds.

Australian Racing Greyhound would advise all to be extremely conservative with regard to possible detection times regarding this drug.
