Potential Postitive Swab Alert To Greyhound Trainers
As a NSAID, Firocoxib is screened for in samples taken from greyhounds and the detection of this substance in a sample would constitute an offence under Greyhound Australasia Rule 83.
There is no known data supporting the withholding period of any preparation containing Firocoxib in greyhounds.
Australian Racing Greyhound would advise all greyhound trainers to be extremely conservative with regard to possible detection times regarding this drug.
This is a crazy story. What do you think will happen next?
Well clearly there will be a positive swab or two coming out of NSW soon. GRNSW though should be congratulated for to a strong and transparent stand on racing integrity, swabbing and stewards inquiries. Something GRV fail to do.
