Acquired Annexes Casino RSL GD Waldron Trophy

A strong mid race run enabled the Peter Simpson trained Acquired to take out the Casino RSLClub / D G Waldron trophy last .

Beginning with the field, he was able to cross from box seven to get into a good position as the field worked their way into the back, and this is where he took off.

With very consistent form including a fast 27.22 win, the 7/2 odds available seemed very attractive to punters, and he won in strong fashion indicating he will run further. It is a credit to Peter and that they are able to train greyhounds as well as running their and rearing business. A good reward for plenty of hard work.

The other feature, the Big Dog Racing Supplements Pop Northfield Maiden final, was won by the fastest semi finalist . A move to box five got her out in the betting, and after plenty of jamming in the early stages, she was able to gallop into second position as they raced down the back. The leader Azure Allegro looked to be racing boldly, but Mystic Rumble was too speedy for her, and she went on to win by 2 3/4 lengths. The time of 23.31 was good after the early jostling. Steve Kavanagh owns and trains the winner, and she has now been undefeated in her three runs. Steve was also in the winners circle later with scoring a hollow win in the Browns Caravan Park distance race.

It was a day for doubles with three other training combinations landing two winners. Charlie and Toni Northfield landed their double with littermates and Tequila Breeze. Ronny railed through at the top turn to win the Sth Casino Newsagency stake by 2 3/4 lengths in 27.68, whilst Tequila Breeze virtually led throughout in the North Casino Mini Mart stake, saluting by two lengths in 23.33.

Maurie Mc Cardle also visited the winners podium on two occassions scoring with Gem Max and . Gem Max finished strongly to win the South Casino Butchery stake by 4 1/2 lengths in 35.94, and Sleek Silhouette took over in the back section, before winning by 1 3/4 lengths in 23.24.

Dean Turley continued the doubles with Verado and Corporal O' Reily winning their respective events. Verado ran 28.42 in the 484 metre maiden while “Radar” O'Reily detected his way to the finishing line to score by a 1/2 length in 23.31. This win gave the Big Cool Daddy / Proper Jessica litter three wins on the day.

In the remaining races who led from the first bend to win the Charcoal Inn 5th grade heat for Des Gilroy, who crossed well from box eight before taking control of her heat to run 23.31 for Les Purnell, and while V V S Laxman plundered the Aussie attack, won her maiden for Claude Dacey.

It's a double header for the club this week with the usual Friday afternoon TAB meeting, as well as a Sunday evening TAB Twilight which will feature the fifth grade final.
