Bell To Bounce Back At The Gardens Today

Blacksmiths trainer and NCA Director Ron Bell is hoping to put a horror outing yesterday at behind him, and return to winning form tonight.

Bell, who has been enjoying a great winning run of late, lined up three favourites, Miss Marina Lee, Charli Girl and Wave To Elle, with all three finishing down the track.

“Everything had been going really good up until today” Bell said yesterday

“I had a bad feeling going into today that our luck might run out, but it was much worse than I thought. But we'll be back tomorrow night hopefully with better luck”

Tonight, Bell's straight back to the Gardens with five runners, Zaccary Right in race two, Lady Effie and Wave To Benny in the fourth. In race five Bell has Jaydee Grant and in seventh event he will box Grip And Rip.

His best chances to to the winners list appear to be Zaccary Right, which will jump from box four and the unbeaten Wave To Benny from box five in race four. But Zaccary Right will have to overcome the smart Beachley Lane, while Wave To Benny meets his tough field to date.

It will be a big day for Cheetham, who is making a rushed trip back to Sydney on a 5pm (AEST) flight to box New Divide, after sending around kennel star and reigning , in a heat of the Group Two Border Park Galaxy at at 3.28 pm (AEST). The septuagenarian trainer is not a big fan of travelling too far away from his Lochinvar base, but having chasers in $25,000 to the winner races is a big motivator.
