Bill Fanning Gets GRNSW’s Racing Integrity Top Job

Greyhound () today announced the appointment of as the new General Manager, Racing and .

The appointment, which comes after an extensive recruitment process, is another step towards the merging of the greyhound division of the Greyhound and Harness Racing Authority (GHRRA) and GRNSW.

Bill Fanning comes to the role with almost 30 years experience in racing including experience as a Chief Stipendiary for Racing NSW in the Northern Rivers and South East of the State for the last 18 years.

Mr Fanning will have direct management and leadership accountability for Stewarding and investigations, racing operations and animal welfare together with developing and advising the Board on all matters relating to the Rules of Racing and associated matters. Mr. Fanning will also have accountability for the member services team at GRNSW including all licensing, registration and grading matters.

Following the announcement, Mr Fanning said he was looking forward to working with the new team being created at GRNSW and building on the integrity of greyhound racing in NSW.

“I am very excited about working closely with everyone in the sport, especially those in the Racing and Integrity team, club administrators and racing participants,” Mr Fanning said.

“Having previously been involved in greyhound racing as a participant and in an official capacity I can see the potential of the sport to increase in both market share and across the board and I believe this can only be done with confidence in the integrity and of the sport.”

GRNSW Chief Executive said the appointment was another step in developing the team at GRNSW for the future.

“Bill brings enormous credibility and experience to the role and we look forward to his leadership of the integrity side of the business as well as his contribution to the senior management team on all areas of racing,” said Mr Hogan.

“The appointment of Bill is part of our plan to strengthen our service offering and the delivery of that to members of the sport as well as providing a professional and dynamic environment at GRNSW and I think he will fit into that plan very well.”

Mr Fanning will take up his new role on Monday 27 July. Mr. Hogan said that it was unlikely that an appointment would be made to the vacant position of Chief Steward prior to Mr. Fanning commencing with GRNSW.

In another key appointment, Greg Hore was today to the role of Chief Grader. Greg is currently the Secretary / Manager for the Greyhound Breeders Owners and Trainers Association's club and comes to GRNSW as one of the most experienced and respected Racing Managers in the State.

Hore's appointment is likely to resonate well with the rank and file participant's as the liekable club secretary has real hands on experince in all facets of greyhound racing and has time and time again demonstrated a commonsense approach his duties that will bode well in his new position.
