Chappelow scores a powerful win in Group 3 Dapto Maiden

THE regally-bred Vintage Power caused a boil over on Thursday night when taking out the over 520m at the world-famous Dogs.

When the lids flew open the blue dog got a beautiful run into the race on the outside of Costin (box seven), slipping into second spot as the inside division of Krakka (box one), Elantris (box three), Berridale Boy (box four) and One Plus Two (box six) came together in the charge towards the line on the first occasion.

Around the first turn Vintage Power was able to slip underneath Costin, railing through to assume the lead heading into the back straight and kicking clear.

Swinging for home and the -trained chaser was in a race of his own, crossing the line five and one quarter lengths clear of a fast finishing Krakka in 29.80, with Costin fading late to run third.

Sent to the boxes as a 25-1 shot, the son of Where's Pedro and Vintage Blend came into the decider with two seconds from his only three starts, both of which occurred throughout the $25,000-to-the-winner series.

The 32-kilogram greyhound is certainly bred to run, with Vintage Blend being a daughter of and 2005 Oaks winner Frosty Fruits, a prolific producer who is the mother to numerous former top chasers such as , and Flavours.

Congrats to Craig and his dad Ken, two wonderful blokes.  I’m sure that there will be more to come from this dog.
