Forty Two NSW State National Championships Aspirants Named

Following today's 12 noon deadline nationwide for the closing of nominations for the 2010 TattsBet.com AGRA Nationals, has released the attached list of nominations received for the NSW State Sprint and Distance heats to be conducted at Wentworth Park on Saturday night August 7 over the 520m and 720m.

The NSW finals at Wentworth Park on the following Saturday night August 14 will see the winners earn $10,000 for and the right to represent the State at the National Finals in Adelaide on Saturday August 28 over 515m and 731m. These Group 1 finals each carry a winner's purse of $50,000.

The NSW nominations for the sprint category total 25 and include the in-form Did I Entertain, which won the right to represent NSW at last year's Nationals Sprint Final in Perth. While unsuccessful in that venture, since then the greyhound has been in great form winning 9 of his past 12 starts at Wentworth Park for owner trainer Robert Arnold.

Jason Mackay has nominated his old warrior Snozz for another tilt at the Nationals after representing NSW in the 2008 Final held at Wentworth Park where he finished fourth behind Knocka Norris.

The sprint category also includes tried and true top class performers Magnifique and Repeated, talented FFA performers Certain Magic and Puddy Muddles, the talented Adhara Shine winner of 3 from 7 at Wentworth Park (best 29.91), as well as Lovin' Spoonful which has secured a run (reserve gaining a start) in Thursday's Group 2 Megastar Final at Dapto.

“We are looking forward to another very competitive series for the NSW State heats this year,” commented , GBOTA Deputy Executive Officer.

“While the distance category has fewer nominations (17), there are some exciting stayers contesting.

“Lady Arko has won 4 on end over the 720m at Wentworth Park recently since breaking the 717m track record in early June and is an exciting staying prospect.

“Group winner has a big following and trainer has entered his talented galloper following resumption from a 4 months' let off with a recent win over the 635m at Lismore.
“Lochinvar Vogue is there for trainer Robert Smith, also with a Group win to its name, having won the Group 2 Hesa Felon at Stud Wentworth Park Gold Cup over the 720 in February this year.

“Also included in the stayers list is Blue Lorian which has been in scintillating from of late for NSW owner trainer Peter Whye. Blue Lorian has won its last 6 starts, including 5 at before winning a heat of the 725m AWM Distance Title at The Meadows last Saturday, where it returns this Saturday for the final of that Group 2 event.

“Clark No Ee and Slick Lee which have stepped up very successfully to the stayers' ranks are there together with the in-form Miss Bossy Boots, to name a few, so this category looks like producing a very interesting final with several chances,” Browne concluded.
