Jason Mackay’s Record Breaker Named AGRA Run of The Month

's for June 2010 has been awarded to New South Wales sprinter Velocity Cloud, after she set the Gardens alight on Saturday June 26th posting new figures for the 515 metre trip recording a scintillating 29.23.

The record had stood since set by brilliant Queenslander in a heat of the Derby back on the 9th of January 2008, when he ran 29.25.

Velocity Cloud made a one act affair of the Grade 5 Forsythes Stake when she led all the way at $1.80 to win as she liked. The margin was a hollow nine and a half lengths with fast sections of 5.05 and 17.28 with a run home time of 11.95.

Velocity Cloud is a much travelled performer starting her race career with two wins over the 460 at back in February last year, she has also recorded wins over the 510 at Rockhampton, the 520 at and over 600 at . She put the writing on the wall earlier in June with a best of the night win at Lismore running 30.32 for the 520 metres.

In the short time leading mentor Jason Mackay has trained Velocity Cloud he has certainly found the key to her and it will be interesting to watch what she does from here on in.

Velocity Cloud is a Black bitch whelped March 2007 by Bombastic Shiraz from Subjective Lee ( x Pretty Wagtail). She is raced by the Velocity Lodge Syndicate (Manager Steve Williams) and trained by Jason Mackay at Richmond Vale. She has raced on 33 occasions for 10 wins and eight placings and his overall stake earnings stand at $15,155.

As usual we had some outstanding runs recorded in June but Velocity Cloud got the nod with her Gardens performance give the record had stood for so long and the fact it was held by Knocka Norris.

AGRA congratulates owners the Velocity Lodge Syndicate, trainer Jason Mackay and Velocity Cloud on being judged the AGRA Run of the Month for June 2010. She join's last month's winner Dashing Corsair and the previous months winners Nellie Noodles, Drill Em', and Goodesy as this year's AGRA Runs of the Month for 2010.
