Local Hopes For Taree GRNSW Country Challenge

THE Greyhound NSW Country Challenge final will be the highlight of tomorrow afternoon's Taree meeting at Kanangra Drive.

With prizemoney of $5400, this race has drawn some of the best dogs in New South Wales. Heats were conducted last Monday and on these results local trainers have an excellent opportunity of collecting the $4000 first prize.

's recorded the fastest time of 31 seconds in the heats and has drawn box three in the final.

Other locals that can feature are (), (Dianne Craig) and (Glen McLean).

trained by at Elrington recorded the second fastest time in the heats and has drawn the number one box.

trained by at Aberdeen has raced well previously but has drawn box five and will need to jump well and his other starter, Our Little Belle, has drawn box eight.

Duri trainer, Robert Munn, gained second place in the heats with Colunder, has drawn box four and will also need a good start.

The other feature race tomorrow is the Taree final of the Ausure Country Cup final with the winner to race at Maitland in November.

Foggart's Walk (Lionel Worth, Elrington) recorded the quickest time in last Monday's heats with Guard the Royal (Wayne Campbell, West Haven) and Sarah Sannette (Kevin Johnson, Wherrol Flat) winning the other heats.

If Sarah Sannette can jump cleanly from box six and get to the rail she should be able to hold off her challengers and record a well deserved win.

The meeting features 12 races starting from 1pm with full tote operating plus all bar and catering facilities and bookmaker.

A jumping castle and balloons will be there to entertain the children and ladies wearing a hat will be admitted free. There are prizes for the women with the best and funniest hat.
