Silver Goblet’s Best Of Day Gives Peter Simpson A Casino Double

A brilliant beginning enabled Silver Goblet to set the time standard of 27.44 for the 484 metre journey last Friday. Exiting from box four, he was soon on the bunny and left his opponents in his wake as he carved out a 5 1/2 length victory.

It was the second winner on the day for local trainer Peter Simpson, as earlier Elite Clause had shown grit and determination to win his maiden. After leading early, he was beaten for pace, but dug in deep to come again to score by a length. He ran 23.83.

Tregeagle trainer also landed a double when Big Bad Shiraz and Peg Rose Hi won their respective events. Big Bad Shiraz was an all of the way winner of the distance stake in 35.92, whilst Peg Rose Hi had to fend of litter brother Albert Rose Hi to win the Ranvet stake in 23.20.

The double trend continued with owner George Bennett landing two winners. The much improved Flying Argument made it two in a row when he stepped up in grade to win the Rural Traders stake in 23.26, while Little Missie held on well to take out the Mc Donald's Pharmacy maiden by a half length in 27.94. Shane Robinson trains Flying Argument and prepares Little Missie.

The most impressive winner on the day was Pretty Norris who ran a 22.85 in winning by eight lengths. He scooted out from box eight, and was clearly in front by the time they had reached the first bend. Going right on with it, he kicked right away to score a most hollow win for Colleen and .

Snitcher returned to his best with a good win in the other distance race for Allan Lang. It was her first attempt at the journey and she never looked like stopping when winning by 3/4 length from the well performed Oh My Papa. She ran a very respectable 35.83.

made it back to back wins when she ran 23 seconds even in the Free For All after holding on to the rails running, while Bouncy bounced out of the traps to equal her personal best time of 27.50 for ,

English Chariot got home late to score for in 27.80, and Miss Elly Mac ran 23.20 for Darryl Mc Grath.

Casino will host another 12 race card on Friday with heats of the over 484 metres.
