Battle Of Sexes For Lightning Final

Top trainers Marilyn Johnson and Ray Burman will play out a battle of the sexes this Thursday night when Anarchy takes on Super Hornet in the Hutchison's Lightning Final.

In what is Queensland's richest 395m race, the Lightning Final has again attracted a quality field, but Anarchy and Super Hornet's recent times and winning margins have them starting at short odds.

The Johnson-trained Anarchy put up an impressive performance at Brisbane last start, clocking 22.69 from box two to win by six lengths over Painted Lady.

Inside it from box four is top class sprinter Super Hornet, which won by seven lengths in its Lightning Heat with an impressive time of 22.73 from the same box.

While they will start favourites in the race, which features a $6800 prize purse, , who ran a quick 22.66 in its heat from box seven, should be considered.

The Lightning Final will be preluded by an exciting clash in race seven, with the ‘free for all', which is almost identical to last Thursday's qualifier.

, and Witheren's Girl will have a second chance to take on last week's winner .

The Cole Sherwood-trained Lucky Alive earned a place in the semi-final of the $250,000 race, which will take place in on October 10.

This Thursday's race will be great preparation for Lucky, who will jump from box five to race in a very competitive field.

Race four is the only distance race for the night, with the Luka Luka Buck's Bonanza fourth and fifth grade over 710m. In this race, One Missing will be looking for the win after finishing a quality second to classy stayer Sassy Sprite, last week.

And on Saturday night, flying the Brisbane colours in 's Heats is Queen Lauryn and Knocka Norris and both who are hot contenders for a spot in the $100,000 final.
