QGRA Optimistic For 17th July Return To Albion Park

QGRA (formerly QGRA) have tentatively pencilled in Thursday 17th July for a return to racing at Albion Park.

Mr , Greyhounds Queensland General Manager; has today announced that “works will begin this week on construction of the new facility to house the essential racing infrastructure. We envisage greyhound racing will recommence at Albion Park on Thursday 17 July.”

However Mr Beavis concedes that “further updates will be provided to confirm the recommencement date.”

In the meantime several meeting changes have become necessary “as a result of the temporary of the and cessation of racing at Albion Park temporarily…to ensure the continuance of greyhound racing in Sth East Queensland”, Mr Beavis said

The changes are as follows :

  • Monday 7 July – Transferred to GRC (Class 1)
  • Thursday 10 July – Transferred to Gold Coast GRC (Class 1)
  • Friday 11 July – Transferred to Ipswich GRC (Class 3)
  • Monday 14 July – Transferred to Ipswich GRC (Class 1)

Greyhounds Queensland have tentatively programmed the heats of the Garrards for Thursday 17 July, with the Final programmed for Thursday 24 July

Should racing not recommence on 17 July, the Winter Cup will be deferred to a date later in 2008.

The 3 Final has been abandoned. The club has determined that prize money will be divided equally amongst the eight finalists.

The Hawkins Media Solutions Superstayers has been deferred to a date to be determined.

The Brisbane Club are endeavouring to recommence trials on Wednesday 9 July, subject to temporary relocation of the driving mechanism.
