Australia’s Best To Clash In Group 1 Sky Racing TOPGUN

The best greyhound field assembled in years will do battle in the 1 at The Meadows on October 23, worth $100,000 to the winner.

The star-studded field has won a combined total of over $1.1 million in prizemoney, highlighting the quality of the eight chasers engaged in the 525-metre extravaganza, which will take place in a just over a week's time.

The race will also reignite the rivalry between New South Wales star Smooth Fancy (box three) and Victorian powerhouse (box two) two greyhounds separated by just a head in the Group 1 Championship back in August from the very same boxes.

The -trained Smooth Fancy is one of three greyhounds from New South Wales to make the TOPGUN, with classy veteran (box five) and winner (box one) also making the trip down to The Meadows for their debuts at the track.

Lochinvar Marlow will be looking to win two consecutive Group 1 races on the trot from the red alley, which would push his prizemoney to almost $270,000.

The brilliant early speed of West Australian chaser Pedrosa will also be on show from his favourable box eight draw, and Victorian also looks a chance with a brilliant 29.84 PB at this track from box seven, a trap he will also exit here.

Ron Ball trainer of former champion chaser Flying Amy will once again attempt a hit-and-run victory in a Group 1 race in Melbourne, with the classy Mr. Metz starting off the awkward draw of six.

TOPGUN night at The Meadows is one of the best on the greyhound racing calendar, and this year will prove no different. Along with the chance to meet North Melbourne and AFL stars Brent Harvey and Drew Petrie, patrons will be in the running to win some fabulous TAB betting prizes, while children receive free showbags and footballs throughout the night.
