Birthday Boy Wins But Young Ravello Claims Overall
Brilliant youngster Birthday Boy claimed the $7,000 first prize in the MTD Geelong Young Star Classic on Friday night.
However, the Steve Elsum-trained speedster wasn't the only greyhound with reason to celebrate.
In running second to Birthday Boy, Young Ravello catapulted past Invisiting Me to be judged the most consistent greyhound throughout the six-week Tri-Star series, thus earning a free service to champion sire Bombastic Shiraz for his connections.
Friday night's feature at Geelong was the third and final leg of the 2008 MTD Tri-Star series, with previous legs being held at Bendigo (won by Dancing Lights) and Ballarat (Invisiting Me).
Young Ravello, who is owned by Tony Devola and trained by Jeff Britton, was rewarded with the stud service, valued at $3,300, despite not winning any of the three legs of the MTD Tri-Star series.
Young Ravello's performances throughout the MTD Tri-Star series:
- Bendigo heat – 1st (8 points)
- Bendigo final – 3rd (6)
- Ballarat heat – 2nd (7)
- Geelong heat – 2nd (7)
- Geelong final – 2nd (7)
