Group 1 Hume Cup Heats This Saturday Night

It's a Group racing bonanza at this Saturday night with the running of the and six heats of the Group 1 over 600 metres.

This year's Hume Cup series is worth $75,000 to the winner for the first time in the race's history, and has been well supported with an outstanding group of middle-distance chasers assembled.

The first heat looks one of the hardest on the program with the likes of Cronos Bale, Don Chendo, finalist Wattle Bee and One Last Dance ready to do battle in a great start to the night.

The second heat looks far more clear cut with the brilliant Katie Merry looking to continue her red-hot form over the 600-metre trip at The Meadows after brilliant 34.42 and 34.52 wins at the track over the last fortnight.

The third decider sees 's new kid on the block Langi Bale aiming to improve her record to 10 wins from just 15 starts, and she looks a super chance to do so after drawing favourably in box two. The daughter of and will take on seasoned Group performers Premier Boloney and Lektra Jay.

In heat four, New South Wales raiders Penetrator (box two) and Shelly Shelby (box seven) will be looking to continue their outstanding interstate form against duo Fyna Bale and Dyna Morris, while Wy Yung Tiger and Quo Vadis do battle in the second last heat of the night.

The heats wrap up with powerful finisher Johnny Ringo (box six) facing the brilliant Shimaguni, who is looking for her first win since April.

The six winners and two fastest seconds will advance to the Group 1 Hume Cup final, to be run on eve – Monday, November 5.
