Regal Thyme Named MGRA’s Greyhound Of The Year

Regal Thyme was tonight crowned the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association’s 2008 Greyhound of the Year for the best and most consistent greyhound to race throughout the year at the Northcorp Boulevard circuit.

Trained by Graham Long of Golden Square (near Bendigo) the son of Bombastic Shiraz x Thyme Travel raced at The Meadows 14 times throughout the year and amassed an amazing 7 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third underlining the great chasers consistency and love for the track.

With Regal Thyme’s prizemoney total sitting just under $230,000 owner/trainer Graham Long who also bred the greyhound had a remarkable 2008 with his “old mate” winning 2 Group 1 events including the Silver Chief in January, the Topgun in October (after El Galo's disqualification) and the Group 3 Silver Bullet amongst his 7 wins at The Meadows.

Regal Thyme has had a small setback with injury of late and has been forced to watch from the sideline, but look out for his return as he will be sure to add to his outstanding record at The Meadows.
