Rippin Hayne roars into Maturity Classic calculations

RIPPIN Hayne burst into calculations for next week's 1 final at The Meadows with a dominant semi-final victory on Saturday night.

Trained by leading mentor , Rippin Hayne only jumped fairly from box three in the fourth and final qualifier, but was able to slip into third spot along the fence in the early stages. Running through the catching pen and the son of Magic Sprite and Chevy Princess pushed through to take the lead, charging clear down the back and roaring away from his rivals to score by three lengths in a fast 29.82.

's (box eight) ran on well to grab second and qualify for next week's final, with Cavalcade (box seven) rounding out the placings back in third.

Also impressing on Saturday night was Ultimate Magic which stepped out in the second semi-final for trainer Anthony . The black dog stepped left from box eight, bumping with Silverali (box seven) before regaining his and carving across to sit in second spot behind Kilty Express (box four).

Around the first turn and Ultimate Magic was able to find the fence before assuming the lead running into the back straight. Once out in front it was a case of times and margins, with Ultimate Magic clearing away at the finish to score by just under three lengths in 29.89.

The third semi-final was an open affair, with five runners starting under double figure odds. When the lids flew open Fantastic Hulk (box three) was the first to go, leading in the early stages ahead of Rippin Rose (box one) and Allen Kempo (box four).

Down the back and the frontrunner started coming back to the field, with Rippin Rose taking up the top spot, however Allen Kempo had her in his sights, hooking to the outside around the home turn and storming to the line to record a strong win in 29.98.

Rippin Rose, a litter sister to Rippin Hayne, also qualified for the final, giving Britton two finalists in the $100,000 to the winner showpiece.

The remaining semi was the only qualifier not to break the elusive 30 second barrier, however it was an action packed race which was keenly contested from the get-go.

Series favourite (box two) and Mepunga Joffa (box three) led the field in the run to the line on the first occasion, however the talented duo tangled together on the first turn, causing both to lose ground and drift back through the field.

Hooking around the outside to take the lead was Dyna Juggler (box six) into the back straight, leading over Radio Silent (box one) and Aeroplane Tommy (box five) which worked himself into a prominent third after bombing the start.

Straightening for home and it was still Dyna Juggler in front, but Aeroplane Tommy had plenty of momentum, zooming past the leader to register a two length in 30.27.

The final of the Maturity Classic will be run at The Meadows on July 30.
