Seven Sharpshooters Take Sandown Shooout Aim
Hot off her stunning Macro Meats Crown Classic heat run of 29.42 – the fourth fastest time ever recorded at the Lightwood Road venue – Queen Lauryn will be out to seek revenge for her 2008 Shootout loss to Mantra Lad, who has also nominated.
Graeme Bate has nominated Velocette and Turanza Bale in his search for a first Shootout title, while Darren McDonald has nominated Cosmic Rumble and Vintage Octane as he aims for a third victory in the race.
Birthday Boy, a reserve for the 2008 Shootout, is the seventh nomination.
The Macro Meats Shootout is a four-dog test of raw speed. The current Sandown track record (29.38) was set by Bond in the 2005 Shootout.
The final field will be announced on Thursday 5 November with the box draw to be conducted prior to the running of the Group 1 Macro Meats Crown Classic. The Macro Meats Shootout will be run on Thursday 12 November.
