Keel Called To Caffeine Inquiry Over In The West
RWWA Stewards have been advised by the ChemCentre in Perth, that caffeine, paraxanthine, theobromine and theophylline have been detected in the post race urine sample taken from Tip Top Thomas, which competed in Race 7 at Greyhounds WA – Cannington on 31 December 2009.
The Racing Science Centre in Brisbane has confirmed the presence of caffeine, paraxanthine, theobromine and theophylline.
Accordingly, RWWA Stewards will conduct an inquiry into these reports which will be held in the RWWA Stewards Room at Greyhounds WA Cannington on Monday, 8 February 2010 commencing at 1:00pm.
The Trainer of Tip Top Thomas, Mr Brad Keel has been requested to attend this inquiry.
Further, under the provisions of Rule 92(5)(a), Tip Top Thomas will not be permitted to compete in any race or qualifying trial until the inquiry is concluded.
For the record, on the night in question Tip Top Thomas was a $5.80 winner from box 5, coming from behind to run down Hondo by .5 of a length in the time of 30.66. The win reversed a run of three unplaced runs at Cannington and in 3 more subsequent runs at Cannington since the win, Tip Top Thomas has failed to run a place.
